This song is about the cultural revolution of the '60s. Mr. Jones is so deeply indoctrinated in establishment culture that he can't fathom the cultural changes that are going on all around him. New ways of thinking, acting , speaking, living, were sweeping the country and the world. "The times, they were a' changing". It couldn't be stopped and those who were not part of the revolution, like Mr. Jones, were baffled, alienated, and frightened. "Something is happening here but you don't know what it is..." |
