First of all, there no possible way for anyone to sell their soul to the devil. Not literally. That's an expression. Unless, of course, vampires and all the other mythical creatures exist. Where's evidence of any of this supernatural nonsense you speak? Grow up. Secondly, trillian said it best. You're only thinking like this because you're under the impression that everything should be about Jesus. You're ridiculous and you need to open your eyes and look beyond religion. I definitely view this song as a religious metaphor for a damaged relationship. "I scraped my knees while I was praying And found a demon in my safest haven" I interpret that part as bad always coming from good intentions. No matter what they do, someone ends up getting hurt in the end. I don't really know what to interpret from the song but to me it just sounds like a relationship that's inevitably going to end. Maybe it is about religion but I find myself getting confused at "I'm better off when I hit the bottom". |

This song is pretty much where my heart is right now. It's funny because I just feel like my life is spinning out of control right now and I stumbled upon this song during my "One Tree Hill" season 2 marathons and the lyrics just caught my attention right from the jump. I've always liked the song but I never took the time to listen to it. But yeah, this song is basically about how everyone around you is moving on in their life but you're stuck on pause & reverse. It's hard for you to move forward because you don't feel like you're ready. "So little time Try to understand that I'm Trying to make a move just to stay in the game I try to stay awake and remember my name But everybody's changing and I don't feel the same" That's definitely where I am right now. I feel like time just blew right past me and now I'm just trying to understand how my siblings and friends can move on so quickly. I'm going to college, even though I have no idea what I want to be, just so that I can move forward with everyone else. It drives me crazy all the time. Gah! But this song is so beautiful and I've been listening to it on repeat all day. |

| It's funny that people say this song is based on Alien Abduction because the song itself reminds me of the movie "War of the Worlds". The song does follow the movie a little bit, doesn't it? I think this song represents someone who's been hurt in the past and refuses to show his real emotions to anyone. It doesn't have to be relationship-wise, but it's definitely about someone who really wants to let people in but he/she knows they have to hold their strong face. "I am ready, I am ready, I am ready." Is his true feelings but in front of other people he says, "I am fine." showing how he's okay living his life in colorless doom. I think it shows in the music that he's depressed and waiting for someone to save him. The continuing bells in the background is like the listener's way of hearing what he hears all day. The lyrics represent what he feels. |
