| That is a good point. I'd also like to note that because Christianity is so deeply embedded into his mind, he feels the need to speak to God like He exists even when denying that very fact. | |
| Manchester Orchestra – I Can Feel a Hot One Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think maybe the song talks more of his religious experiences than his relationship with a girl. For example: "I remember, head down, After you had found out Manna is a hell of a drug" --I'm thinking he talking about blessings from God. He's saying that we all take our blessings for granted, and when they stop coming, you realize how much you've taken them for granted. "I took it like a grown man crying on the pavement Hoping you would show your face But I haven't heard a thing you've said In at least a couple hundred days" --It sounds like he's talking about God showing his face. He feels like he's been abandoned or forgotten by God, as if God refuses to speak to him anymore. "And I could tell it was over From the curtains that hung from your neck And I realized that then you were perfect And my teeth ripping out of my head" --This is a post-accident statement. He's basically saying he sees the Lord (as you would if you felt you were going to die). He realizes that God hasn't been ignoring him, and he "shows him dreams of his daughter." He regains his faith. Anyway, not an interpretation of the whole song, but maybe some clues to what it might mean. |

| Counting Crows – Cowboys Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with Kutzko. This song is definitely about the dark side of humanity. It's about the lengths a person will go through to get the attention of another person, be it after a bad situation or not. In this case, the lengths one would go through to even get someone to look at you. | |
| Counting Crows – Insignificant Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think the line "I don't want to feel so different, but I don't want to be insignificant" means something a little different. I think he's saying that to be somebody, you have to be a special kind of person, but he wants to feel "normal" like anyone else. He wants the signifigance of the life he lives now without the emotional and lifestyle strings that are attached to it. | |

_stranger: he refers to new mexico as an "injun" because that state is known for it's native american culture. |

| Counting Crows – Children In Bloom Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think you kind of got it right shirvs. but i interpret it more as he wants to grow up and experience adult things (refer to "Round Here"), but at the same time he doesn't understand that once that happens, you can never go back and return to that innocence. | |
| Head Automatica – Laughing At You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think he's talking more about other people, especially small touring bands. so many times bands work their hardest and still remain the butt of "elist musician's" jokes. he also refers in the bridge to how so many small bands can get screwed over in the process of their career. | |
| Head Automatica – Graduation Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i'm pretty sure this song is about a little more than "leaving high school drama behind". this is daryl palumbo we're talking about here, not pete wentz. if you pay attention to the verses, he talking about a couple of pretty fucked up families. |

| Northstar – Two Zero Two Lyrics | 18 years ago |

"I’ve got glass eyes that has dined so many times with thighs and sighs that scream I got to get mine... " i think he (the glass eyes, the drunk self) has dined so many times with his lover (these thighs and sighs that scream i gotta get mine, but obviously not getting it from him). |

| Counting Crows – Raining In Baltimore Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
My interpretation of this song: "This circus is falling down on its knees The big top is crumbling down It's raining in Baltimore fifty miles east Where you should be, no one's around" >>I think the circus he's referring to is his life. At one time it was full of things and people and excitement, but now it's all coming down to a crashing halt. "I need a phone call I need a raincoat I need a big love I need a phone call" >>These are all just things he feels would ease his pain. Maybe a phone call from someone, maybe some to love. Maybe even just a raincoat so his clothes won't get wet. "These train conversations are passing me by And I don't have nothing to say You get what you pay for But I just had no intention of living this way" >>He's trying to say that all the conversations that he has with his lover have all been done. They run like a train, like clockwork. There's nothing new, but what can you talk about when you're so far away? "I need a phone call I need a plane ride I need a sunburn I need a raincoat" >>Once again, things to ease his pain. Maybe if he took a trip somewhere, maybe if he went somewhere where the sun shines all the time. "And I get no answers And I don't get no change It's raining in Baltimore, baby But everything else is the same" >>He's not sure why he's in this situation, but he wants to figure it out. "There's things I remember and things I forget I miss you I guess that I should Three thousand five hundred miles away But what would you change if you could?" >>It's like he's saying that she's so far away and he should miss her, but he's not sure he does. He knows he's "supposed to" though. He's saying that they are seperated, and it hurts, but he wouldn't change anything about it. Maybe because he likes it that way. "I need a phone call Maybe I should buy a new car I can always hear a freight train If I listen real hard And I wish it was a small world Because I'm lonely for the big towns I'd like to hear a little guitar I think it's time to put the top down I need a phone call I need a raincoat " >>All things he needs. Maybe a new car would quiet his problems (like most people in a mid-life crisis think.) Or maybe he just needs to go to a club and hear some guitar. Or maybe he still just needs that raincoat. |

I'm thinking that MC Legends has the right idea about the predator thing.....almost. While Jesse Lacey is trying to paint a picture of a predator/crime situation, he's using it as more of a mental image to convey another point. What point? I'm not sure yet. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Atlantic City Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I took a totally different meaning to the lines "Everything dies baby that's a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back." I think this line is more about the disappointment in only getting one life to live. The main character in this song was obviously dealt an awful hand, and the line is kind of like saying, "Maybe I'll get another chance to get this right someday." It's like it's his only glimmer of hope. |

also the line: And I'm afraid of you tonight, Those striped socks and punk rock pajamas. >>another fashion commentary (which is probably directed at a lot of his fans.) he's noting that punk has lost some of it's honesty in the fact that it's being manufactured into sleepwear. but, despite all of this, he still can't get away from it because it is what he loves doing. |

| Owen – Windows And Doorways Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this song is about being in a band, obviously. but at the same time, it's a commentary on the music scene today. And this was a lot more fun when the music meant something to someone >>he's saying that back in his early days (circa mike in the 90's), punk meant more to people, and that it wasn't a "fashion trend" if you will. |

| Cassino – American Low Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i think the meaning of this song is to be a social commentary on the poor, but at the same time i think it's more of a personal struggle with poverty. the second verse really grasps the concept: Oh this earthquake is shaking our hands Free at the wrists just as we started a dance >>meaning just as they were starting their dance (their life with each other), something financially disasterous happened to cut it short and leave them on their knees. The hardest thing next to diamond rings Is the coats we have to wear just to make ends meet I got this year and fifty more to beat… >>i don't think he necessarily meant for "coats" to be a metaphor for jobs really. i think he meant it more as like a shell we have to have so that life doesn't wear us down to nothing over time. Its enough to make you give up….she says… I know I know I know….so let go… |

| Manchester Orchestra – I Can Barely Breathe Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i took a different opinion of the song. i saw the song talking more about how we handle the disappointments and disasters of life. "i watched the beauties, watched the fire and the fire burn the beauty in their eyes" |

| Cassino – Lolita Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's loosely based on the book "Lolita" about a older man that falls in love with a young girl. | |
