I love this song, and i absolutely love Ani. To me, this song describes the trust you put in someone and how easily you can be mislead by them, and in the end, betrayed. I think the beginning phrases refer to her being alone, in a world where she was an outkast "surrounded by a language which i could say only hello and thank you very much" then she finally meets someone, in whom she's singing to, who completely understands her so she ends up putting all of herself in this relationship "so i drew a treasure map on your hand".. which to her seems like a paradise However the relationship is betrayed by the person when she gets to know the real them.. she talks about her disappointment when she says "the map led to an island with store-bought, or fake dreams and soul-less singers, or heartless people, ... she feels awkward and out of place but has "sweetness" to show a 'good' face. but then at the end she's back where she started. whoa sorry for the long description.. |
