I think there are a couple of inaccuracies in the lyrics because you have the demo version up, but here's my interpretation: I feel like this song is about those moments when you look back at your life and realize how much you've changed over the years, how you might've grown up believing you would be one thing and end up being something completely different because you've adapted yourself to new situations. His father is a grown gentleman now, but once was a hippie. The relatives changing their names, "We go our own way." It could also be about a dying music scene, or its just asking something like "where have all the good people gone?" I'm probably over-thinking it, but whatever. |
