This song tells the American folk story which finds its roots in an actual event which took place in St. Louis in 1895. Since then countless musicians have retold the story and have taken some interesting prespectives. I like this version because it is one of the few in which Stagger Lee gets his come-uppins (although a fictional aspect to the story). |

i defantly agree with opigonbad on this one. 25 is a kind of acid and 624 is something you would take to "come down" from a trip. Knowing this the rest of the song makes sense about the writer's trip and contemplating taking more acid or coming down. As for the people who say that all songs are about drugs most of the rock and roll artists of the 60's and 70's were heavy drug users and subtly (if not blatently) added drug refrences to their songs. Im sorry if you're agains drugs and this ruins the song for you. I also agree with aboylegolcom about how chicago would probably not officially state this song is about an acid trip, but the alternative makes little sense. |
