Fall Out Boy – She's My Winona Lyrics 16 years ago
it's, "life's just a pace-car on death. only less diligent."
a pace-car is a car that leads racecars around the race-track before the race and during cautions.
so, life leads death around, but isn't constant in efforts to accomplish something.

Panic! at the Disco – Nine In The Afternoon Lyrics 17 years ago
I KNOW someone's going to fight me on this: I think the fact that everyone has said this song is about doing drugs, yet no one can agree on a the same particular drug proves it's NOT about drugs.

Yes, the lyrics are "out-there" and could possibly describe how one feels when they are 'high' but when I first heard the lyrics, it immediatley reminded me of my friends & I. We've never done drugs, yet this song is exactly how we feel when we're around each other. This song is clearly about just being with a great group of people and not wanting it to ever end. My friends & I say silly shit that doesn't make sense at all. We're just having fun.

In reality, the boys DID go back to the exact same pratice space as they used for AFYCSO. Just being in the that room, together, helped spark their creativity. Thus giving us the first song they wrote for PO, "Nine In The Afternoon." The title, "Nine In The Afternoon" came from the fact that the practice space had no windows and someone asked for the time. I think Spencer was the one that replied saying, "I think it's nine in the afternoon."

Panic! at the Disco – Northern Downpour Lyrics 17 years ago
- "That fragile Capricorn
Unravelled words like moths upon old scarves"

Does anyone else think his father may have been a Capricorn?
'Fragile Capricorn,' is some what of an oxymoron because I know for a fact that Capricorns are supposed to be very stable, strong and goal-oriented.
I think 'fragile Capricorn' could refer to his father's alcoholism.
His father's obituary: http://www.reviewjournal.com/obituaries/individual_display.jsp?obitID=994800817

This line really speaks to me.
My father's also a Capricorn and about 6 or 7 years ago he was diagnosed with anxiety and depression.
I had always seen my father as the backbone of my family, but suddenly he was much weaker.

- "I know the world's a broken bone. But melt your headaches; call it home."

This is my favorite line on the whole album. Ryan can truly write words to live by.

according to iTunes; i have now listened to this 1500 times since it came out. i love panic to death.

does the beginning of this remind anyone else of "a day in the life" by the beatles? a little before the halfway mark in "a day in the life" there's a portion that sound exactly like the beginning of this song.

Sonny & Cher – I Got You Babe Lyrics 17 years ago
i don't think "blow up blondie" meant the song was ABOUT her. i think she just meant it describes her situation and that she RELATES to it; as we all do once in a while.

stop being such jerks to her. when my parents started dating, they were in the same situation. my mother was sixteen & my father was twenty. given that was back in the early eighties, and my father stalked my mother before actually asking her out.

and yes, at fifteen & nineteen, those four years are a big difference. especially today. but just lay off her. those four years won't seem as bad when she's nineteen. my parents made it work.

Panic! at the Disco – Pas De Cheval Lyrics 17 years ago
here's what i'm thinking;;

"oh, little did she know. couldn't let me go. already a part of her. so often do i met people in between. that just can't get a hold of it." - he's in a relationship with a girl who's been trying to leave him for a while, but she realizes she can't. but other people don't understand why this is so,

"so we'll just sing it for them..." - him & her are going to show everyone how/why they're still together.

"it's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened. imagine knowing me. it's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine. but you'll never know until your there." - he's saying he's the best guy there is around & no one else will ever understand because they can't get him.

"slow, leave walking to the world. give your feet a chance. they'll do all the thinking. toast high until they find less pathetic wine. until they get a better blend." - i think he's saying that if she really wanted to leave she'd be gone already. and that she's going to keep praising him until someone better comes around.

"and we'll just drink it for them." - refering to the wine.

and so on.

B*witched – C'est La Vie Lyrics 17 years ago
*everytime i hear this song i think of like, first grade when all the girls thought the girls had cooties (and vice versa).*

i believe this song is just as innocent as the next. i think it's about a girl who wants to be "one of the guys." this makes sense because b*witched was always the "tomboy" girl group. and the title makes sense: "c'est la vie" means "that's life" in french.. it's just life that sometimes guys don't want a girl in their group.

"i wanna know just what to do. is it very big? is there room for two?"
- she wants to know what she's gotta do to be equal to him.

"gotta let me in, let the fun begin, i'm the wolf today - i'll huff, i'll puff, i'll huff, i'll puff, i'll blow you away. say you will, say you won't, say you'll do what i don't. say the truth. say to me; c'est la vie."
- she's going to show him she's worth his company.

"do you play with the girls? play with the boys? do you ever get lonely playing with your toys? we can talk, we can sing, i'll be the queen and you'll be the king."
- the girl is trying to get equal with him.

"hey boy, in your tree. throw down your ladder make a room for me."
- she's knows she's got to become a little more assertive if she wants to spend time with this boy.

this song is sooo not about STIs or STDs... jeesh. it's obviously about that first love and how that person will always be apart of their heart. in the "i loved you once, i needed protection" part she's saying she only loved him back then, but she was scared of getting hurt.

- i will admit though, when i first heard it.. i thought it was about losing your virginity.. i mean the lyrics make sense.

Nelly Furtado – Turn Off The Light Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is definitley about being strong willed and independent on the outside, but inside you're soft and you just want to be loved. I can definitley relate to this song. Especially the line "I live my life by the moon. If it's high play it low, if it's harvest go slow and if it's full, then go." My astrological sign is Cancer, and Cancers are ruled by the moon. Also, Cancers are known for their tougher outer shell but the softer inside, so this song perfectly describes me.

Nelly actually said about "Turn Off The Light", "It's a real song.. though I may seem so independent and stuff, blah, blah, blah, when I turn out the light at night I can get lonely just like everyone else. Maybe that's why it's such a good song and everyone is responding to it- because it's real. Just a song with a fun, hooky chorus."

This song reminds me of my friends & I, and all the love we have for each other and that we're always going to be there for each other. No matter what, friendship NEVER ends!

"Say you love me and i'll say i love you too, just remember what simple words can do, all that i have i give to you my friend, just remember friendship never ends." - Perfect!

I don't understand why so many people hate these girls for doing this!

Spice Girls – Do It Lyrics 18 years ago
They pretty much sum up the whole song with the line, "Make your own rules to live by."

- "it's just another thing you gotta keep your eye fixed on the road. do what your mama said, i will not be told. keep your mouth shut, keep your legs shut, go back in your place. blameless, shameless, damsel in disgrace." (you've always listened to what your mother has told you to do. you're being pushed around like a doll, always following your mother's rules.)

- "who cares what they say, because rules are for breaking. who made them anyways. you gotta show what you feel, don't hide." (sometimes, you just gotta stop listening to the rules and follow your heart. don't be afraid to speak your mind, or do thing that you want to do.)

- "come on and do it, don't care how you look it's just how you feel. come on and do it, you gotta make it real. come on and do it, it's time to free whats in your soul. you gotta get it right, this time. come on freak out, lose control." (this part is encouraging you to be something different, don't blend in.)

- "remember things like this should be seen and never heard. give a little respect to me and it will be returned. keep your head down, keep your nose clean, go back against the wall. girl there's no what out for you, you are sure to fall." (this is, again, talking about the "rules" you hear as a kid. 'a lady so be seen, not heard', 'respect is a two way street', 'don't ruin your reputation', but they point out, if you always follow the rules you won't get anywhere in life.)

- "who cares what they do, because it's yours for the taking. so it's not for you anyway, make your own rules to live by." (do i need to explain this?!)

- "you might do the wrong thing, for the right reason. don't just do the right thing, to be pleasing." (if you step out of the mold you're living in, you're being true to yourself. don't be fake, just to please others. DON'T put yourself in a situation that makes you feel uncomfortable.)

This song has been like theme song since I was like seven. It taught me at a younger age to be different. I honestly believe, if it wasn't for The Spice Girls, I wouldn't be who I am today. GIRL POWER!!!

I think this song is just living up to the rock cliche of "Sex, Drugs & Rock N Roll". But too much of rock n roll can just plain out kill you. For example, the chorus, "the more you roll the mroe you will need, the more you rock the more you will bleed."

Paramore – Fences Lyrics 18 years ago
Personally I feel that Hayley's taking on "Young Hollywood". (For example, Lindsay, Paris & Nicole.)

- "i'm sitting in a room. made up only big white walls and in the hall there are people looking through the window in the door. they know exactly what we're hear for. don't look up just let them think there's no place else you'd rather be." : First, Hayley's putting herself in young Hollywood's position. The room, could be in a rehab facility or a jail cell. Because the celebrities today pop in and out of rehab and jail as often as they change their underwear. But I digress. They go to rehab and jail like it's nothing but everyone knows their business. But the celebrity has to keep smiling, like everything's okay.

- "you're always on display. for everyone to watch and learn from. don't you know by now that you can't turn back? because this road is all you'll ever have." : On display, means the fact that these stars are being followed all the time by the "paps" and they get thrown around these magazines. They can't turn back because they get so absorbed by the Hollywood Lifestyle and their going to keep making the same mistakes.

- "and it's obvious that you're dying, dying. just living proof that the camera's lying. and open wide, 'cause this is your night. so smile, 'cause you'll go out in style." : These celebrities are trying to pretend that their okay, when they aren't. And you see them in the tabloids all the time, "happy" as can be, when inside they hate themselves. Hayley's saying with the "you'll go out in style" is pretty self-explanitory.

- " if you let me i could, i'd show you how to build your fences, set restrictions, seperate from the world. the constant battle that you hate to fight. just blame the limelight." : Hayley's pretty much saying that if more people would be like her, keeping her private life private, not partying every single night, they would learn. And they should stop getting pissed when the "paps" follow them around, because they're pretty much asking for it.

- "you're asking for it. with every breath that you breath in, just breath in. you're just a mess. you do all this big talk. so now let's see you walk it. i said let's see you walk it." : She's saying that they all are fake, and in the end they need to face the truth.

Paramore – Miracle Lyrics 18 years ago
This is my other favorite song. I don't think it's about God, but I think it's about keeping faith in somebody. They may have made mistakes, but in the end, no one's perfect (and vice versa). I pictured a relationship/friendship that's been through a lot, and both party made mistakes and caused eachother pain, but in the end, they still want to be with eachother.

- "i've gone for too long, living like i'm not alive. so i'm gonna start over tonight, beginning with you and i." : she's wasted too much time, searching for perfect, when she didn't realize what's she had.

- "when this memory fades, i'm gonna make sure it's replaced. with chances taken, hope embraced." : she's saying that from now on, she's going to change her ways and cherish what she's got & not take anything for granted.

- "i'm not going, 'cause i've been waiting for a miracle and i'm not leaving." : she's not going to give up because she knows everything will turn around.

- "i won't let you, let you give up on a miracle, when it might save you." : she's not going to let him give up either because she knows in the end it could work.

- "we've learned to run from anything uncomfortable. we've tied our pain below. and no one ever has to know that inside we're broken." : she's saying that they just kept avoiding their seperate issues, when in reality, their issues aren't that seperate. they both are going through the same thing.

- "i tried to patch things up again. so count my tears, and kill these fears." : she's ready to fix everything, and she wants him to know that she's putting her heart and soul into it.

- "it's not faith if you use your eyes. oh, i will get it right this time. let's leave this all behind." : they both need to listen to their heart and they'll make it through and forget about the past.

Paramore – When It Rains Lyrics 18 years ago
This is my favorite song, I think it's one of the most personal songs on the album. I also think it's about dealing with people who are going through depression. It's also very personal to me, because I know many people who are depressed and it scares me that they could possibly hurt themselves and the ones they love.

Here are my 2 cents:

- "and when it rains, on this side of town it touches everything." : the person is going through stuff, and it's hurting him and everyone knows it.

- "you made yourself a bed at the bottom of the blackest hole. and convinced yourself that it's not the reason you don't see the sun anymore." : the person is falling deeper into depression but the person keeps denying it, and the person is trying to tell others that they're okay.

- the chorus: maybe he's attempted suicide or something, and she's realizing that the person has a problem and the person doesn't want to talk about it.

- "and when it rains, will you always find an escape? just running away from the ones who love you, from everything." : everytime something happens to cause the person to fall deeper into depression, he always avoid talking/dealing about/with it.

- "you'll sleep till may, and you'll say you don't wanna see the sun anymore." : the person is finally admitting their depression.

- "take these chances to turn it around. take these chances we'll make it somehow." : she's saying to the person that if they would just accept the help that is at their hands, she can help him out of 'the hole' he's buried himself in.

- "you can take your time, take my time." : she's saying that it's going to take a long time, but she'll always be there.

I LOVE this song!
It's kinda a big middle finger to anyone (music critics) whoever doubted them or said they were fake.
I love how now-a-days musicians don't care about writing hits, it's about the music.
I was watching, "The Rock Life" on VH1 and Cisco Adler said, "If you go into the studio trying to write a hit, most likely it's not going to be a hit."
And I think more musicians are noticing this.
This song reminds me of two other songs, "London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines" by Panic! At The Disco & "What You Waiting For?" by Gwen Stefani.
All songs are kinda saying, "You know, let's just write this song and not really care if anyone's really gonna like it. Because we got one shot to show them what we can do."
I think that shows a lot about a musician.

The Academy Is... – Bulls in Brooklyn Lyrics 18 years ago
I think the song is about people who say stuff about others, when they have no room to talk, you know, people who are throwing stones in a glass house. Just hear me out. In Hoffman Estates (for example) William was probably around some people that he didnt like. And like back then they would always try to bring him down. But now, he's obviously more successful than them, and people he could've had issue with back then are probably still talking shit about him.

"Some people have it and other people don't." - Could be the ability to just keep your mouth shut about past issues.

"Don't say you miss me, you probably don't. Well I've been crossing some lines, that most folks won't." - The people who he's had issues with are being all "goody goody" with him, when he knows the truth, they are only doing it because he's famous.

"Don't think you're more than this or above all this. With your blah, blah, blah and all your friends." - The people and their friends think that they are the shit.

"Tonight the Bulls are in Brooklyn and you're still at home." - Saying, we're out there, doing our thing, and you're at home.

"Though the road that we paved, still goes both ways." - He knows that they both are guilty of talking shit. And he's strong enough to admit he's also done wrong.

(Did anyone else notices the drums? Pretty much the same from "Rock N Roll Part 2" by Gary Glitter)

Taking Back Sunday – Liar (It Takes One to Know One) Lyrics 18 years ago
I totally agree with anyone says it's about Lord Of The Flies.
I read the book this past year for literature & here's some things I remember from the book that parallel the song;

- "Choir boys.." - the boys in the boy were all described as choir boys.
- "We co-exist.."- in the book [I think] it's Ralph & Jack get into a fight and they split the tribe into two different groups on opposite sides of the island. Ralph, though, is more civilized that Jack. Jack's tribe become savages. Hence the "co-exist" meaning that they are in the same world, yet so different.
- "26 days.." - the boys were on the island for a little less than a month. Which could be the 26 days TBS talks about.
- "Island.." - well, this kinda explains itself.

And I kinda think that maybe Adam saw the similarities between Lord Of The Flies and the fueds that went on a couple years ago and maybe that's why this song was written.

This song is so pretty. Even though everyone thinks it's a song to Geri, it isn't entirely. The girl's started writing before she left. Then in '98 when she announced her departure, they finished it.

It's such a good song. I hold it dear to my heart, about 6 months to a year before this song came out my best friend moved away... like from Illinois to Texas. And this song helped me heal. Theyr'e just saying you gotta be able to get along with them. Remember; GIRL POWER!

"So here's a story from A to Z. You wanna get with me you gotta listen carefully. We got Em in the place who likes it in your face. We got G like MC who likes it on. Easy V doesn't come for free, she's a real lady" - Has nothing to do with drugs or prostitution. Mel B is introducing the girls. Fleetwood Mac – Landslide Lyrics 18 years ago
I think song is about changes & being independent. You know, going out on your own for once. Taking care of yourself even though it might be hard. But it's a 'mountain' that you will be able to climb.

This song means a lot to me. I'm a junior in highschool, then I'll be a senior & I'll be graduating highschool and I'll be on my own for once. The line, "Well I've been afraif of changing because I've built my life around you. But time makes you bolder, children get older. And I'm getting older too..", it really hits home with me because up to this point in my life, I've depended on my parents & family for everything and soon I'll have to be more independent. The, "..children get older. And I'm getting older too..", reminds me of my little brother & cousins. I'm the oldest child in my family and I've seen all of the other children mature, and grow up & then I realize that my parents & family are watching me get older. This is one of my favourite songs.

-linds "is getting older too..."
