I think it's about the relationship between Jews and Muslims. There's is an endless horrifying conflict between "brothers." Islam and Judaism are brother religions and literally thought to be born of a rift between brothers. |

No, he really isn't. Rihanna is far more successful than him & makes considerably more as her music sells better AND she makes millions with dozens of companies whose products she advertises. Women get to do beauty product ads so they generally make more at the end of the day if they're successful.
That line was to us - well not ALL of us, but the average-wage-making "haters" amidst his average-wage-making fans. |

What he faked was his macho bravado facade. He's saying that, unlike what he's let on, he would never actually enter a strip joint for pleasure, or in his words, "be caught dead in this place"... maybe even alluding to the fact that he's gay. |

The outro and the chorus made me think this song was a narrative (so not necessarily about Marina herself) about a girl who, at 17, fully realized her desire to physically be a boy. Perhaps the first and second verses refer to her talking to a therapist... or boyfriend who didn't understand what was going on in her head. I mean "rise of a king and fall of a queen" and ESPECIALLY the, "Never felt like a princess, I used to kid myself in this dress..."
It's a beautiful powerful song no matter what it's about, though.
Also, I just have to mention that I LOVE what the piano's doing in the background throughout the entire song. Marina is amazing. |

You know, I wont even claim it is, but when reading through this song, it seems very much like it could easily about a young man, who's gay, telling off his father, who's basically one of those womanizing 'tough guy,' boys-will-be-(and-should-be)-boys types... You guys should read through the song, or listen to it with that in mind. |
