I really like this song. It's so sad. I think when they say,"every rose has its thorn," it means that every love has its issues, but you can get thorugh it & be happy, or, like in the song, break up. The dumpee was hoping to work through it, but the other person felt no need to help it. That's how a lot of relationships end up... it's quite sad. |

I love this song! This song, I believe is about jealousy. This guy, who was born rich, hates his life. Everyone follows him around & he gives to charity, He doesn't love the money or the "orgies on his yacht." This guy, who doesn't have a lot of money, is jealous. This leads to how people think there's hapiness with only money. There's more to life than that. |

I love how ironic this song is, like most of Simon and Garfunkels songs. They sound so bright and cheery, yet they're so depressing. The first stanza says that I'm 21, but I'll just be 22 & life will go quickly then you'll die. Second, how he loved someone, then they left & now his life is "crumbled."Third, how life is "rippling". 4th, how that the end is here... yeah good song |
