I always found this song to be strikingly beautiful, with its being devoted to a much loved pet only adding to it. I had to pull it up on YouTube this morning when we awoke to find that our doggie had passed in the early hours. We had fought for her survival with her for the last several days, and my daughter had spent the night by her side on the floor.
So many feelings are conjured by these lyrics. Yes, we'll hear her unique "party howl" echo in these halls forever. We waited on her hand and foot through her decline. It does, indeed, hurt to let go.

This tune is a religious experience. Is it the chorale that's backing her up? Is it the way her voice toys with you, only hinting at the power that it packs, until knocking you dead toward the end? Maybe it's that it brings you back to the depth of those few friendships that you'll never let go of. Whatever it is, the woman who has proven to me that M.C. is far more than T&A is worthy of being here with me as I become a fan.
