I don't know why anyone is complaining about this album. Truly, I think Metallica sold out with "Death Magnetic" because they gave into what the fans wanted, and not what they wanted fully. This album is by far the heaviest (as a whole), the rawest, and the truest they have ever produced. Sure it lacks guitar solos, but solos don't make a song. To enjoy this album, turn it wayyy up on good speakers. It really is the angriest CD they've produced, and I love it (even more than post black album metallica). The bad production makes it even more interesting to listen to, SCREW YOUR POLISHED SOUND. This sounds like a kickass garage band with simple $300 equipment destroying a setlist. As for the song, it may be the best on the album. Many people have said the meaning, so I won't go into it. |

Great song.. The lyrics are incredibly cryptic, I'll try my best. It seems that it's about a break-up where both people needed each other and relied on each other. It was brought on by "one moment of doubt". Or.. it could be about two siblings separated.. |

| I believe it's about someone facing and trying to overcome their pain, hence the title of the song. The subject keeps reassuring himself that he must continue, but he gets desperate at the climax. After this, the song becomes weaker and weaker as it ends. It is showing that even though he's still reassuring himself, he's losing hope as well and letting the pain get to him. | |

@JASGripen Yeah, the song makes much more sense in context with the concept of the album with your idea. "The following lines is about the storyteller/TR being turned into something he don't like, but which makes him dangerous to the Ruiner. The Storyteller himself has become a hater, he don't like it at all, but he also indulges in it." |

To me, this song is about someone who is fucking you over to everything that you have worked for and cared about deeply. Therefore he "ruins" everything. you had all of them on your side didn't you? didn't you? you believed in all your lies didn't you? didn't you? (Everyone believed him over you.. Even if they were your best friends, he lied to them and made it seem believable) the ruiner's got a lot to prove he's got nothing to lose and now he made you believe the ruiner's your only friend (He knows what he is doing, he apparently has done this before and is currently succeeding) well, he's the living end to the cattle he deceives the raping of the innocent you know the ruiner ruins everything he sees now the only pure thing left in my fucking world is wearing your disease (He is trying to explain that he knows how "the ruiner" works) how'd you get so big? how'd you get so strong? how'd it get so hard? how'd it get so long?
