Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn – Tender Sugar Lyrics 18 years ago
It just screams out drug addiction (cocaine in this particular instance) with a few psychological elements borrowed from the Silent Hill games...I suppose.

In attempts to analyze...

"I run.
I fall.
What ripped away?
Check my body,
was it body or soul?
The darkness fades,
fades to the light,
disappearing now,
disappears from the night." - Probably representing withdrawl symptoms and running to get her fix while losing a bit of her own self in the process?

Oh hell, every other lyric seems to relate back to withdrawl and getting high.
Addiction?

"What I need.
What I need.
What I need.
A little somethin' I rely."

Yep. Relying on it, clever, Mrs. McGylnn.

Damn...DAAAYUMM. I'll have to admit I first heard this off Code Monkeys on G4, but after hearing the full version I think I'm in love.
Addictive, no?

Oh, right, this IS songMEANINGS. Might as well put some input.

Massive Attack – Risingson Lyrics 18 years ago
Hahah, I love how people think every other song's about a breakup or love or something.

Trexaur, your explaination is better than anything I could think up for this song.

White Lion – Fight to Survive Lyrics 18 years ago
Ahh, I love this song. I think it's quite obvious what the meaning is just from glancing over the lyrics.
Could be something deeper, but I'm not into doing all that fancy research.

Just basically the primal insticnt to fight and it keeping you alive. Some of White Lion's stuff revolves around war anyway.

Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn – Waiting For You Lyrics 18 years ago
I always figured this was about James and Maria (OR MARY...)
but what about the lyrics,

"Mom's gone to Heaven now.
Why won't she come back down?
Does she have someone she
loves more than me?"

Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend Lyrics 18 years ago
Quoting RuleofNines,
"Like wow! totally catchy like for sure!" doesn't make it good...this song is a prime example of why the mainstream is total shit and why the record industry is total hell.

That's pretty much what I'd say about this.

Massive Attack – Teardrop Lyrics 18 years ago
To me, this song is about trying to do something (in this case, save a life?) even though it seems hopeless, which relates to the 'teardrop on the fire' comment. It's a seemingly useless effort.
"Love, Love is a verb" shows how much affection the singer is showing for possibly a person caught in the bad situation.
"Fearless on my breath" symbolizes how much she's willing to risk for this person.

Now, on the night part...I've heard places it's "night of the murder" or "night of the dare" I'm going to leave that interpretation blank, even if it is relevant. |:
However, "black flowers blossom" reeks of a terrible deed done or some tradegy.

"Water is my eye, most faithful mirror" Water in your eye, now? Sounds like a...TEARDROP. 8U Most faithful mirror and the teardrop together could symbolize inner pain, reminding you of your true feelings. This could be for either the singer or the agonized person.

"Teardrop on the fire of a confession" could be the singer realizing the reality of the situation, how she can do nothing about it.

Finally, "Stumbling in the dark" or "Stumbling a little" could be her giving her best effort, but it seems in the end she fails. Bittersweet, don't you think?

And yes, I'm with the majority who first heard the song on House MD...damn good show.
