i love xavier, he's so... raw. everything about him is just so honest and positive, that last bit being something rare these days. This song is about his mother/ grandmother or some older female he loved very much passing away and how she will stay with him forever. I want to say it's his mom because of the line "I see your smile through my own Your spark embedded deep inside " It's so sweet, peaceful, and a positive look at something negative. |

| i think this song is about seeing through the rough times in life and not focusing on the negatives. It's about appreciating the support of others and the love in the world! Xavier makes me so happy... | |

| Yeah...definitely one of my favorite songs on the album...so political, yet so catchy...it's political in way's you wouldn't (and don't) pick up on until you realize the lyrics....great anti-war song | |

If you could edit the lyrics, that would be great....the majority of them are incorrect...refer here: http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/john_butler_trio_lyrics_4014/grand_national_lyrics_42863/devil_running_lyrics_463999.html And, as for my opinion, once you read the lyrics, I personally think it's a sort of social commentary on our fear mongered society, and telling people to stand up for what they believe in...it refers to both Bush, "He find first place with dirty hands He graduates man without learning. Agenda set So long ago This son's a puppet with a master The hands stand still right by his side Middle finger on the button of disaster." and Iraq, "A sun does rise from distant lands Tears run and fires burning" |

| I played this for an Indian friend, and he was incredibly uncomfortable. I thought it was funny. | |
