I agree, DL Gedge is all of that except that - being from Leeds - he would blanch at the thought of someone thinking that he was from Manchester. The rivalry between the two cities is legendary and dates back to the 15th C and the war of the roses. The Houses of Lancaster (red rose) and Yorkshire (white rose) now only seem to do battle on a football field where both teams still wear their respective colours. To someone from Leeds/Yorkshire any delight experienced in manchester would be regarded as rare. |
