shrapnel, is small debris that is released after a bomb explodes, so he means his change here, I think he means it in a sense that its fairly useless as he doesnt have much, he may as well have shrapnel.

spanners comes from the phrase 'throwing a spanner in the works' which would stop a machine dead, it means in today's language something which stops a plan from being executed properly, an obstacle or similar.
mugging oneself is a phrase that mike skinner uses quite often. mugging someone or something, apart from to hold them up in the street, is to insult someone or do another thing which makes them look a bit stupid, when he says 'dont mug yourself' he means dont be a fool. |

i agree with scummy man but also how so called celebraties are all niave and get screwed(not literally) "dont be suprised when ya get bent over ..... etc" i dont think this lyric should be taken literally, its more about record companies and promoters etc squeesing the blood from your veins and screwing you and will leave you alone and pennyless. also i think its about how celebraties have different dreams " the top 100 list; when did ur list" etc, also im gonna say something fairly ourageous, does anyone else think that kate moss may have been thought of when they were writing these lyrics cus the a. monkeys have been seen with the babyshambles and pete doherty recently???? it just hints a little bit like that to me |

yer mardy bum means being in some sort of paddy, nah u wouldnt understand that word either, erm just being upset or in a mood. i think its about a girl hes just upset and telling her to cheer up and hes trying to remembering the good times, "remember cuddles in the kitchen". jus out of intrest who else uses the words mardy or mardy bum? i no they do up north and in the east midlands |
