This song is so amazing. I think this is about a young couple and the guy is trying to convince the girl to commit suicide with him. Here is my explanation: All our times have come, Here but now they're gone. Seasons don't fear the reaper, Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain... We can be like they are. ::ok, I think this is him saying we have lived out all the good parts of our lives, let's die. and not to be afraid cuz everything dies like the seasons and it is just a natural process.:: Come on, baby... don't fear the reaper. Edible, just because of the line," Is this everything you thought it'd be? What you waited for religiously" that does not mean this song is about that. Look at the rest of the song. I agree with brianta. In the first verse he basically is saying he wanted this so bad and it happened, and now he doesn't like it and he can't understand why this isn't what he wants anymore.They were basically barely hanging by a thread in their relationship and "held down by fishing line and glue to be the best we couldn't be". They saw amazing things in store for them, but neither of them had what it took to hold the relarionship together. In the chorus it's like "Ok, so here we are, we have everything we wanted...so do you really want this?" "just know I wouldn't hate you if you tried"...they are both afraid to make the first move to jump out of this. He says not to be afraid to do it. 2nd verse: "Old times make heroes out of fools" They are both foolish now, but looking back at their friendship they can see that once they were perfect for each other. He doesn't understand how this happened...at the breaking point, it took so much to hang on and she fell short. She realized that what was required of her in order to save them was something she could not give. Good song. |

i understand this song totally. I battle anorexia and I think Daniel does such a perfect job of expressing himself although if you didnt have personal experience with this it would be confusing. And you're my obsession I love you to the bones And Ana wrecks your life Like an Anorexia life He seems to contradict himself in this song, and I think it is because, at least with my experience, you hate it, and you want to stop but at the same time the thought of stopping is inconceivable and as soon as you ever do try to eat just a little more, you immediately feel fat and go through a huge guilt trip. So you need it and you cant stand it and I think that is what he is saying |

| I think this song is about a guy who loved a girl for being free and her own person and not following society's rules, and for that she was beautiful. But then, the girl decided to conform and start over and be good, so she has changed and left him behind. I love the last line. "My you look beautiful But your love is a funeral" saying, sure now youre "beautiful" from societys standpoint and youve got it all, but you dont have me anymore and I dont have you. | |

| ok, a seperate post now. 1st I think some of these lyrics are wrong. I don't know the right ones, but in the chorus for one example, listening to the song and reading the lyrics I really dont think thats what they say. I think I understand this song in 3 ways. "Time Consumer" is relative because 1st, the lyrics talk about how we waste time and would do anything to get it back, 2nd, how there is an instrumental for a long time before the words start..time consuming...then it's like he is making up for it by making ends of sentences double as beginnings of sentences. | i can totally relate to the first line of this song. Even before I knew of this song I always looked at my cigarettes like life, thinking about how when I pull it out I'm like "yes a whole cigarette I'm gonna love this" but then before I know it it is almost done and usually not as amazing as I built it up to be, just a cigarette. As for the rest of this song, I love the opening line but I feel they let the oppurtunity to write a good meaningful NON love song pass them by. | |

Destiny... destiny protect me from the world Destiny... hold my hand, protect me from the world I see that as him saying everyone has a set destiny and he is relying on his to protect him from things such as being killed or something like that, like saying he can do whatever he wants cuz he knows what is in store for him so he is immune. also he talks about being in a band and like maybe how thats what keeps him whole and maybe thats protecting him from everything and is his destiny and how in a world of confusion his band keeps him sane but that doesnt change the fact that he is still in the world so he is still confused. |

| I have a different take on this song than the rest of you. To me, I always thought he was saying that this "handsome boy" wasnt necesarilly handsome by everyone elses standards, but by his own. And like, maybe he looks up to this guy and respects him and stuff and he was kind of wishing he could love himself and the things about him that much. | I chose this song to say how I feel about dashboard confessional for the sake of dramatic irony considering this is the one dashboard song I feel serves a purpose. I became a fan of them when it was "him", not "them". When Chris Carrabba and Dashboard Confessional were interchangeable. Chris Carrabba might as well have one song. they are all about the same thing. Meanwhile his fans think it is amazing that he writes things that they relate to. thats not too hard when all your songs are Oh I miss you so much why do you hate me. That is a pretty generic situation. He is nothing he used to be anymore. Him and his fake British accent. It is one thing to change, but another to change when it isnt for you. I am disgusted everytime I hear his all-of-a-sudden nasaly voice...all listening to dashboard does for me now is make me realize how much I love Saves the Day.
