what does this song mean to me? it means a lot. because of the tempo and just the way their voices sound i think that this song is about panic. i believe it's about being cheated on, rather than being the cheater. "staring on the edge of safe" that lyric has been puzzling me. is it that they are about to do something dangerous, but they've called to say, 'it's ok, i'm still here, i'm ok.' to assure that to the cheater that they havent gone and done something stupid? "encircle me i need to be taken down" to me this implies that the 'narrator' of the song (the one who has been cheated on) needs to be have their other half enclose on them. and that's the con. although she has been cheated on, she still needs the other person to keep her on track? to keep her focused with a purpose? 'nobody likes to but i really like to cry' - this line kinda made me think that i actually grasped one of the interpretations that can be extracted from this song - she 'likes' to cry, because crying makes her vulnerable. being vulnerable gives her reason to me encircled and be brought back down to reality. such an essay.. lol. but i really cant wait to hear the rest of this album! |

ya know when you hear a song and you immediately relate it to something going on with you right now.. this is one of those songs for me. for me, i think of it like this... you really like someone but it's not out in the open. everytime you're with them you're thinking "what do i do? what do i say?". "if you're gunna get up i'll just admit i only get up for you" it's like you know that if they move you wanna move with them. you just love being with them and in a way you like it that no one really knows "i won't tell one soul" - you're own secret. and as far as what burn out said ... similarly to you i think that it's all about it being a secret. but a secret that even the person you like doesn't know about. and that is why the girls sing it almost casually "if you're gonna get up you might as well get up with me" by saying 'might as well' it sounds that it's just an excuse to be with them - although later on in the song the reality behind 'going downtown' starts to emerge. So yeah, just my interpretation :] |
