While I don't have much to add about the title or the "Zeros and ones" line (props to the folks that puzzled that out), I'd like to direct you to www.anotherversionofthetruth.com. From there, you can find out a lot more about the album, and if you dig deep enough, you'll find a site written by the main character of the album. Dig deep enough into THAT, and you'll find a long, rambling post about his experiences in some foriegn country as a soldier. He and his platoon were holed up in some church, and they had some poor girl tied to a chair, and she just kept screaming at him in a language he didn't understand. Finally, when they untied her to take her out back and shoot her, she gave him a lock of her hair to keep. And he did. Hence the lines: I guess I just wanted to tell you As the lights start to fade You are the reason I am not afraid And I guess I just wanted to mention As the heavens will fall We will be together soon If we will be anything at all" Those lines alone make the entire ALBUM worth listening to. Reznor has tied all of this political, culture, industrial mess back to what is a quitessentially human experience: love, and regret. |

| Nine Inch Nails – The Great Destroyer Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Interpreted within the concept of the album, the song is about Angry Sniper destroying something, possibly vital, and possibly with explosives or guns. The breakdown on the second half of the song could be any number of things: I rather like the interpretation that it was the static from a destroyed a satellite or communications tower, or it could be a more general sound of destruction and the world burning, though the beat is a little too structured and static for that. Amazing song, either way. I love it. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The song is written from the perspective of the apologists of facists (think Rush Limbaugh for an equivelent). G does stand for Greed; do remember that this is 2022. If G makes you think about George Bush in the context of this song, maybe this says more about your perception of George Bush than it does about the man himself, hm? | |

| I don't know, Hammlet. I thought that Folk Death 95 and We're No Here were pretty damn good. | |
