Great song! Very simple, straight to the point - and heartfelt. It is a short song, but it packs one mean punch. I agree with many of you on here about the lines: "I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine./I ain't rich, but Lord I'm free." Two very well written lines. I do like Strait's version, because he puts so much feeling into the song. |

| This song is basically about a realization the narrator of the song has when he sees things that touch him. Each situation is different. The first one, the one about the poor mom and kid, makes him cry because they are in such a horrible situation, and there is nothing he can do...it can be argued that he reflects off this scene in his past and present life. The second time he cries, he feels resentful because of the relationship he lived with his father, who he barely got to bond with because of his father's job. And the last time he cries in the song, he feels a sense of love and a bond with his daughter. It makes him believe that he broke the "curse" that he lived with his father. Overall, a very cliche song, but very nicely done. | |

| Love this song, so serene. I first heard it in "Finding Forrester" and then in E.R. when Dr. Greene passed away. I then heard it when I finally had the chance to watch "Meet Joe Black". This song can be morphed into so many meanings that it is a true piece of art. So well sung, so well composed, so well combined. | |
