The Smiths – What Difference Does It Make? Lyrics 16 years ago
Man, if I didn't know that this song was released in 1984, I would definitely say it's about Edward Scissorhands.

The Cure – Maybe Someday Lyrics 16 years ago
To me it sounds like:

"And I know that maybe some days come
Maybe some days come again"

rather than,

"And I know that maybe someday is come
Maybe someday is coming"

The Tea Party – In This Time Lyrics 16 years ago
To me it sounds a bit like they'll always be together "in this time" that they were and even though their love is over it will always exist in the time that it did. The guy hasn't gotten over it and keeps falling back in waves in love with her and what they had and has given up trying to deny that he'll always be there if she needs.

Stars – Set Yourself on Fire Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that the "There is only one thing" refers to LIFE itself, that is, if, after the last set of that line the, "(And then we die)" is actually in one of the versions, though I've never heard it in the song.

Broken Social Scene – Handjobs for the Holidays Lyrics 17 years ago
"We've got eyes that leave us in places we don't see"

I think that the eyes are our mind's eyes, and we're left in places psychologically, states of mind, ideas, maybe memories of things too and places we have physically been, but which for all we can't physically see

Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Possess Your Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
Holy crap I totally thought it was "I WON'T possess your heart" which I like a lot better in a way anyway

Marilyn Manson – Eat Me, Drink Me Lyrics 18 years ago
To me "I see my horror reflected in the sundown of your blank stare" sounds as if one person is horrified and just depressed, calling out to the other, but the other person couldn't give a damn. However, to make sense with the rest of the song, yeah the blank stare is because the person is dead and the other is fucked up from it.

Finger Eleven – I'll Keep Your Memory Vague Lyrics 18 years ago
They're saying "Sometimes so it reminds me", not "Sometimes the wind reminds me", though I used to think it was that too

Hootie & the Blowfish – Let Her Cry Lyrics 18 years ago
Kay this is wrong, "She says Dad’s the one I love the most
but Stipe’s not far behind
She lets me in". It's "She says there's the one I love the most but his type's not far behind, she never lets me in..."

submissions
Patrick Watson – The Great Escape Lyrics 18 years ago
It's actually "Bad day, looking for a way... HOME, looking for the great escape..."

Kings – This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide Lyrics 18 years ago
Well I'd think the song is about havin' lotsa people to fool around with. Also how sometimes you can't decide on just one person to be with so you basically go "fuck it, I'm just gonna take it easy" -- swiiiitchhiiin to gliiiide is just about partying and having a good time.

Sufjan Stevens – For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti Lyrics 18 years ago
did anyone notice that it could just as easily be either, "mo(u)rning comes in paradise, mo(u)rning comes in light"?

"Hey Amanda, coming on here and being an asshole has nothing to do with the lyrics or their meaning" ha ha ha niceee; i don't think saying how you love a song is restricted anywhere, and perchance it would encourage others to listen to the song

Primitive Radio Gods – Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand Lyrics 18 years ago
I think the title refers to a broken relationship and no matter how hard one is willing to go back and give it another try, it's too late because it's broken for good.
