To me it sounds a bit like they'll always be together "in this time" that they were and even though their love is over it will always exist in the time that it did. The guy hasn't gotten over it and keeps falling back in waves in love with her and what they had and has given up trying to deny that he'll always be there if she needs. |

I think that the "There is only one thing" refers to LIFE itself, that is, if, after the last set of that line the, "(And then we die)" is actually in one of the versions, though I've never heard it in the song. |

To me "I see my horror reflected in the sundown of your blank stare" sounds as if one person is horrified and just depressed, calling out to the other, but the other person couldn't give a damn. However, to make sense with the rest of the song, yeah the blank stare is because the person is dead and the other is fucked up from it. |
