i think this song is about a trip. a trip from his counciousness to his inconsciousness trought lsd, a trip such as a separation from his girlfriend or a trip like one last greating to the world. in everycase the poetry (are not songs jim's songs, but poetries) is symbolic, and according to me represents some feeling that jim felt when has wrote the song! |

uhm...i love this song... and i believe to have find who maria is... listen to me: maria is a rebel, without any doubt! have so many importance a name?? she is everyone of us! she is every girl or boy that make a mess... she...is she and nobody can be like her, because nobody can be like me or like everyone of you! another interpretation is that the name Maria has been chosen because it has a hidden meaning... so maria is ...marijuana...and remembering the fact that "green day" means "a day passed smoking weed it's probably!! expecially when Billie Joe says: "Be careful what your offering" "turn up the static left of the state of the nation" "Maria, where did you go?..." all these phrases could be related to the fact that maria is "illegal", it has to be hidden and it's consumed by people that (the most) oppose the government and so are in the "left side" of a nation... i think so... |

eheheeh!! i think there are politic and "moral" reason... in italy there are two political alignment...such as republican and democratic in us. berlusconi is the leader of the one more conservative and he put into citiziens's mind the fear of terrorism, of bin landen and so on... and also the idea to make a war to export democrazy! church support his ideas, and people that are catholic for the 95% must agree with these ideas. the other part has been disappointed by the fact that Prodi, the leader of the opposition, when has been at the government found some reasons too support bush's ideas (because there are behind a lot of economic interests to remain "america's friends") and so now there are less people that continue to say that is absurde make a war to export peace! we usually say that "make a war to export peace it's such as have sec to remain virgin!" it has non sense! but unfortunately we are really a little!!! but i think that also in usa there are a lot of people who belive that is right make this war, or not??? you are a minority or not?? kiss valentina |

i think that is a sort of punch line, that include all you have said... exemple: novocaine is an anestetic used in hospital... "novocaine" has some assonance next to "cocaine" also the fact that "super nova" was the boom of cocaine could be the reason for what the song is titled novocaine...a mix, to hide the word "cocaine" that could be politiccaly uncorrect... the lyric is all about the sensations that a drug can leave away, or about depression and so on, but the important is however that a drug can leave these sensations. the expression "give me a long kiss goodnight" could be related to a drug that make you sleep quiet!! or, still the lyric could be related to the feelings before have had sex! this is all according to me!! |
