Very nice, insanely incredible! I rank it with “Ghost Love Score” as the best songs ever...wait, this is not a song, I agree with dark elv, it is a symphony! A play for the mind to perform! Yes, well this song is indeed about Tuomas. I can imagine how he felt just simply by the power of the lyrics and the dramatic way the music was conducted; such sorrow and pain. Personally this song means a lot. The helpless feeling as you watch the pendulum descend ever closer. Tuomas is a musical genius I say! However, I must say that I am sick of hearing about "poor Tarja." She disgraced NW by becoming a primadonna! People, if you are a true Nightwish fan you would embrace who they have chosen and respect that decision! I personally like Anette better. Sorry I’ve had enough of people complaining all over the World Wide Web. Fare thee well fellow Nightwishers, until we meet again in music. |

You must be joking that no one has posted on this wonderful song! At any rate, I may as well be the first to post. I do belive that this song is about one who is loved, but lost. They feel that they are becoming overwelmed by darkness and 'the dawn...ne'r to apear.' I think that the one who is expressing this song is feeling a level of sadness and ire towards the one who's life seems in vain. They find that it is a mystery that it is so, perhaps because it is about some one who has a lot of things going for them, but are still miserable and lost. I'm sure we all know someone like that, anyway, it is a vary beautiful song and is one of my personal favorites by Sirenia. |

Thank you rhenna, obviously afflicted4life IS afflicted with a narrow mind. I see the song as being a depiction of one who is wanting to be reedeemed from the state that they are currently in, poosibly being in a state of mental deterioration. It is saying that the insanity or manica that has infested his mind has forced him or her to a point being at sixes or sevens, meaning they can go either way, down into insanity, or be redeemed back into who they use to be before being infected. But you know, thats just me. I was not high when I found the meaning, so I think that afflicted4life shoud probably stick to the more simple and less talented boy bands like rhenna said. This is a beautiful song! |

Okay, I am new at this interpretation game so don't attack me...here it goes; "We use to swim the same moonlight waters, Oceans away from the wakeful day" This to me seems to be a reflection on the good memories of a love that the person, remembering how the end to the relationship seemed to be out of sight or out of sight or "oceans away." "My fall will be for you My love will be in you If you be the one to cut me I will bleed forever." Obviously this is showing the devotion of the lover, demonstrating the deep emotional investment they have. It also says that if they are to be betrayed, they will never recover. "Scent of the sea before the Waking world Brings me to thee Into the blue memory" The scent of the sea, to many, is very calming, so perhaps it is a remembrance of the one this person loved, even though the reality of the end is approaching. They dive into the 'blue memory' which is calming and soothing. "A siren from the deep came to me Sang my name my longing Still I write my songs About that dream of mine Worth everything I may ever be" This one is a little tougher. A siren usually represents something seductive and misleading, a tempter or temptress. Something, perhaps the end of the relationship its self ‘singing’ their name, the siren is someone or something trying to destroy the relationship through a very appealing way. Kinda’ like how shallow girls will target stupid guys with relationships and try to make them play favorites. However, the lover does not give in and continues to ‘write their song about that dream’ that is perhaps of a never-ending relationship. They think that the love they feel is equal to anything that they may ever become. “The child will be born again That siren carried him to me First of them true loves Singing on the shoulders of an angel Without care for love n’ loss” Maybe the ‘siren’ whatever it may be, is trying to divert the lover’s love by showing a false perception of renewed innocence and purity. The two lovers indulge in the relationship they have and ‘sing on the shoulders of an angel without care for love n’ loss’ feeling a sort of apathetic attitude towards the impending end of the love they both share. “Bring me home or leave me be My heart in the dark heart of the night I have lost the path before me The one behind will now lead me.” Now we have entered the stage where the lover starts to feel betrayed and just want to be left alone. They don’t know how they feel towards the other person; their heart is lost in ‘the dark heart of the night.’ They feel lost and do not know were to go. “Take me Cure me Kill me Bring me home Every way Every day Just another loop in the hangman’s noose” Anger, fear, a feeling of wishing to do anything to save their love, but know they are one step closer to the end of the relationship. “Take me, cure me, kill me, bring me home Every way, every day I keep on watching us sleep” Another plea to save what love they have left if any and the line that says ‘I keep on watching us sleep’ could mean that the one who is expressing these feelings is again reflecting to the days of old when their love was strong. “Relive the old sin of Adam and Eve Of you and me Forgive the adoring beast” The lover is wishing to rid their self of the guilt of loving and/or disobeying advice that may have been given, similar to when Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, hence the line of reference in the stanza. They are asking forgiveness from what may be the siren mentioned earlier. “Redeem me into childhood Show me myself without the shell Like the advent of May I’ll be there when you say Time to never hold our love - My fall will be for you - My fall will be for you My love will be in you You were the one to cut me So I’ll bleed forever” The lover wants to be pure again, to see who they really are, and they are waiting for the end of the relationship, they have accepted the fact, regardless that they are deeply hurt. The relationship ends and the lover can no longer hang on to any hope and they are condemned to live with a scar that will haunt them forever. All in all, this is a very beautiful, heartbreaking, emotional, and purely ingenious. It is about the entirety to a deep relationship that ends, they reflect on something that is now dead, the love they had is dead, hence Ghost Love. This is without a shadow of a doubt one of Nightwish’s best songs of all time. |
