| Pink Floyd – The Final Cut Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is so emotional for me. I almost cried the first time I listened to it, especially when he says the last line. For some reason, this song seems much more earnest to me than most of their others. The feelings of betrayal and insecurity are so overwhelming. | |
| The Clash – Hitsville U.K. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| When I first heard this song, I could hardly believe it was the Clash. This is the first song of theirs that really reminded me that they were around in the 70's | |
| The Matches – To Build A Mountain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think the "wolf" in the song is actually Wolf Blitzer. He was a major cheerleader for the Iraq war, so that line is probably sarcastic. | |
| The Matches – Didi (My Doe, Part 2) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This isn't part two to the barber's unhappiness. If you go to The Matches song vault online, they have part one posted. It's not on any of their albums. | |
| The Matches – December is for Cynics Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The 'it's too easy being great' part twists the whole meaning of the song. It's mainly not criticizing the commercialism of the holidays, but the cynics who refuse to observe them because they think they're too cool. The whole thing is satirical, saying, "Yeah, we're so great we make fun of other people while they celebrate." Then when he brings over the wine and vinyl, they end up celebrating anyways. And their plans for what to do instead of have quality time over the holidays are all exaggeratedly pathetic. |

| The Matches – Darkness Rising Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is really dark and daring and I love it. The way I see it, he's telling her that no matter what sort of baggage she brings, he's not going to leave her. | |
| The Matches – AM Tilts Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love how they string their songs together even if they're not on the same album. If you listen to "My Soft and Deep" he talks about the morning tilting closer. That song was about messing around with someone at night and this is about a morning after. | |
| Sugarcult – Counting Stars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think the meaning behind the "counting stars" metaphor is that he's trying to do something that he feels is too big for him to accomplish, such as counting all the stars in the sky. | |
| Sugarcult – Bouncing Off The Walls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Not to mention that they oh-so-subtly used the phrase "Blown it on you" Blow? Coke? Yeah, that's definitely what it's about. |
|
| Selena – Como La Flor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Correction: I did get the marchitó line wrong as well as the one after that. It really means "He left, I leave today" | |
| Selena – Como La Flor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yo sé que tienes un nuevo amor [I know that you have a new love] Sin embargo te deseo lo mejor [Nevertheless, I wish you the best] Si en mí no encontraste felicidad [If you cannot find happiness in me] Tal vez alguien más te la dará [Perhaps somebody else can give more to you] (Coro) Como la flor (como la flor) [Like the flower] Con tanto amor (con tanto amor) [With so much love] Me diste tú [You gave me you] Se marchitó [He marched] Me marcho hoy [I march today] Yo sé perder [I know I lost] Pero ay... [But, oh] Cómo me duele [How it hurts me] Ay... [Oh...] Cómo me duele [How it hurts me] Si vieras como duele perder tu amor [If you saw how it hurts to lose your love] Con tu adiós te llevas mi corazón [With your goodbye you took my heart] No sé si peuda volver a amar [I don't know if I can return to love] Porque te di todo el amor que pude dar [Because I gave you all the love I could give] (Coro) *I'm not totally sure about the translation for "marchitó" because I don't know that conjugation, but it shouldn't be too far off. |

| Juanes – Un Dia Lejano Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Could we not chunk all the lyrics together? | |
| The Beatles – Julia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is so cute. My parents named me after it. | |
| Bedouin Soundclash – 12:59 Lullabye Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm sure that correction could have been made without immature name-calling and rudeness. I'm sure that you never make mistakes, though, so whatever. | |
| Bedouin Soundclash – St. Andrews Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I agree. It's definitely a confessional-type song. "Now I've sung midnight choirs With baseheads, drunks, and liars But there's never fire," I think this means he's starting to come around and realize that there isn't any meaning in a life of drugs and alcohol and that he's ready to leave. |
|
| Bedouin Soundclash – 12:59 Lullabye Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is amazing. I can really just imagine someone laying in bed and trying to sing themselves to sleep. It's sweet. | |
| The Sounds – Living in America Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| No, these are the lyrics for "Living in America". "Dance with Me" must be wrong, then. | |
| The Classic Crime – Who Needs Air Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I definitely think that there's a religious aspect to this song, but I do believe he said he wrote it for his wife, so it would make sense that he wrote it ABOUT her as well. Also, this isn't a strictly 'Christian' band. They're on a record label that used to be only Christian, but it doesn't have that label anymore. | |
| MC Lars – iGeneration Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it represents our generation perfectly. And, yes, he was playing off of "My Generation" on purpose. I love MC Lars. He's such a nerd. You know he started rapping when he was studying at Oxford and got bored? Anyways, I thought the reference to Viacom was an interesting comment about our generation losing our privacy. | |
| MC Lars – Hot Topic Is NOT Punk Rock Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The song actually isn't denouncing Hot Topic. It's denouncing the people that shop there. He's making fun of all the little poser kids who think that they're punk rockers because they wear black and buy all their clothes at Hot Topic with they're mommy's money. | |
| Jonezetta – Backstabber Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| When I saw them in concert the first time, I thought they were saying "Backstabber, backstabbing ho!" and it amused me soooooo much. | |
| Green Day – Are We the Waiting? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The way I see it, the album starts off with a programmed, complacent Jesus of Suburbia who is following whatever others tell him. "Are We the Waiting" is about him contemplating who he is, and deciding that he can't go on waiting for others to change, and really transforms into St Jimmy. There's a very distinct difference between the two. St. Jimmy is a very angry, revolutionary person. It's a song about questioning authority and changing things yourself instead of waiting for others to do it for you. | |
| Blink-182 – Easy Target Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The line "Southern California's breeding mommy's little monster" is a reference to the Social Distortion song "Mommy's Little Monster" about a girl who was an all-around screw up. | |
