He's freaking out he is already a dad because he feels so young, and this is the day everything changes.
I think the rest of the song is about life and how his son will grow up, but that's a bad thing and he shouldn't fight it. And eventually his son will move away - "fly away" |

This song is definitely about somebody much loved passing away. It sounds like a breakup song too, except for:
"Thank you for the happiness
That you gave to our lives
Although now our hearts are cracked
And our tears are slow to dry
We must count ourselves
The lucky ones
For we were with you in your prime"
To me it's very clear it's about somebody dying or moving away. 'Keep in touch' could be someone moving away, or it could be a romantic way of missing a dead person? |

They're playing at spleandour in the grass!!! Gonna be really great. I love "Only love can be both heaven and hell" - truer words were never spoken. I love his advice to his son, but i think the "road yours to tread" and "together even though we're apart" are more lines about ex-lovers... But now i think it trhough it probably is his son. I'll stick with my interpretatiuon though! Favourite song on that album. If you like this you'll love "When I Had You With Me" |

This song is just beautiful... Really.. I can't believe it hasn't got more comments. I'm OBSESSED with this song. I think it's about an ex-love of his that he still thinks about, whether she does or not. Mostly he is OK, but sometimes he can't get her out of his head and it hurts.. It's exactly how I feel about my ex. I love "I will lay my head and rest my feet,
and dream of older days when we were young and free" because that means when he has some quiet time, she is the first thing that comes to him... And he remembers how in love they were. It's beautiful. |

I love this song.(seeing as i submitted it, thats fairly obvious)
I love the way that it seems as if the singer is living his life trying to get over this girl. And he just can't... When he gets drunk, he sleeps with a girl because she LOOKS like his lost love. Then when he says goodbye to this girl (because he can't tell why she reminded him of his love) he thinks about his love and what she's doing at this moment.

When I first got this CD when it came out, I listened to this song about 15 times in a row. It strikes me every time as a perfectly beautiful, heartfelt lyrical piece. I love the quirky lyrics so much.
It's a constant source of rage (and of pride) to hear people going on about how great Augie March are after they released One Crowded Hour. I was loving them way before that!!! |

Awesome imagery... "The boat breathing, and the only you can think of is me" is great. Puts you in the husbands place. How he works hard in a dangerous job and all he wants is to be with his wife. And she wants him by her side but has to be strong.. Emiliana is great at this. |

Beautiful song. A favourite. She is so out-of-control in love in this song, and she portrays it perfectly. The chorus is just incredible. As she grows up or whatever, she realises that that blind love isn't enough to base a relationship on sometimes (and how true...) Towards the end they are still friends I think, which is cute ("We still talk..") |
