| smith was ADD so of course he did a lot of adderall. they don't tell you that stuff about stars because it's taboo, but smith took stimulant medication for ADD. you can find this out by looking at his autopsy report. drugs like that make you feel like the drug you're taking is responsible for all the fun you're having and all the great things you do, so the song is about the euphoria\shame combo that comes from taking stimulant medication, and the dependency that eventually develops. the moon at the song's end becomes a metaphor for not just a light-bulb but also a little white pill. " the moon is a light-bulb breaking" (i.e. a little ball of energy bursting open) and we see the dependency in the lines: "it'll go around with anyone... and i won't come down for anyone." here, while smith is talking literally about the moon, metaphorically, he is talking about amphetamine depency, first by referring to himself as the pill, stating that "it" will go around with anyone, and then finally by acknowledging that he is dependent on it, and does not believe he will ever be able to stop using it for anyone. the st. ides of the song is included perhaps because smith used his medication often when going out to drink. | |
