| Tori Amos – Baker Baker Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The references of the baker and cake kinds makes me think that they were considering marriage... | |
| Tori Amos – Mother Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Actually, I thought this song was about a girl joining the Army and being killed during combat. Of course there's the obvious reference of tucking your ribbons under your helmet and being a good soldier... but at first, I could have sworn the chorus was "Mother the CORPS is here". And green limousine could be a reference to some sort of Army vehicle. "I walked into your dream And now I've forgotten how to dream my own dream" A lot of people who join the army become completely different people. They lose their individuality because the military is all about conforming. "He's gonna change my name" (Instead of being just plain Tori, she is now Private Amos in Uncle Sam's opinion... I think it's a neat way to look at it.) |

| The Smiths – I Want the One I Can't Have Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I can really relate to this song 'cause I want the one I cant have. And everyone knows about it... "it's written all over my face". Haha. I love this part: On the day that your mentality catches up with your biology And if you ever need self-validation just meet me in the alley by the railway-station it's written all over my face To sum it up, he's basically saying: when you start acting your age and you need a little somethin-somethin', come find me and I'll give it to you, CAUSE I WANT YOU BAD!! lol. I don't really think the song is about a Lolita type deal. I just think it's about someone who's grown up, physically, but just refuses to act their age. They're immature, obnoxious, lazy, maybe... but he wants them oh-so-bad. But he can't have them. Maybe its a case where his head is trying to keep his heart in line; he knows in his head, that hooking up with someone immature will put a damper on where he is in his life, but his heart is screaming "come on, go for it. THEY'RE HOT!" Just my perspective. It's a bit different from everyone elses, and probably wrong. But that's what I got from this song. |

| The Used – The Bird and the Worm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Oh yeah, and in The Used song "Take it Away", Bert says "I'm a worm with no more chances." Worm... yep, it's about him. | |
| The Used – The Bird and the Worm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this is more or less about that "loser" kid at school.. you know, the one "weirdo" that everyone else picks on? (That explains why he has a backpack, too) Anyway, he's the worm and the kids who bully him around are, duh, the bird. They push him around to the point that he can't take it anymore. He keeps crawling away from them, but they still get at him. He's depressed and going insane, and he'll do anything for relief. All in all, great song, and I basically was that kid when I was in high school. I'm thinking Bert probably was too, which is why he wrote the song. | |

| Linkin Park – Easier To Run Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It is obvious that this song is about abuse, more importantly, sexual abuse. It's about his emotional scars and how he's so ashamed that something like that happened to him. "It's easier to run Replacing this pain with something numb It's so much easier to go Than face all this pain here all alone" He's hurting so much and feels so alone, and just wants to get away from the person who caused him pain "Something has been taken From deep inside of me A secret I've kept locked away No one can ever see" The something in reference was his innocence/purity. After the incident, it changed him completely. "Wounds so deep they never show, They never go away Like moving pictures in my head For years and years they've played" He's talking about his emotional scars. From the outside, no one can see them, but that doesn't mean they're not there. In fact, they're so deep that he can't heal them, and he can't get the events out of his head. "If I could change I would Take back the pain I would Retrace every wrong move that I made I would If I could" It's like he blames himself for what what happened. Anf if he could go back in time and avoid the situation, he'd be fine. "Stand up and take the blame I would If I could take all the shame to the grave I would" Essentially he feels like he is to blame. I've heard that a lot of people blame themselves for things like that. "Sometimes I remember The darkness of my past Bringing back these memories I wish I didn't have Sometimes I think of letting go And never looking back And never moving forward so There would never be a past" Seems to me like he's contemplating suicide. He wants to forget what happened and not look back, but the only way to truly do this would be for him to kill himself. "Just washing it aside All of the helplessness inside Pretending I don't feel misplaced Is so much simpler than change" He feels different from everyone around him and like he doesn't belong. He feels like there's nothing he can do about it, and he's just going to feel this way for the rest of his life. This song is so sad and vulnerable. Although I personally can't relate to it, the very first time I heard my immediate thoughts were "was Chester molested?" So yeah.. that's my analyzation. |

| Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's about how emo can be worse than the mainstream. Because, if you go to the Live Journal communities and such, you will see that emo is NOT about the music. It's about hair, fashion and having "the look"... and it truly is an arms race. All these scene kids are busy competing with one another about who has the awesomest vintage tees, tightest pants, etc. There is so much truth in the song title itself. | |
