First of all, the Shiny Toy Guns cover of this is just purely awesome. They turn it into a duet, and it sounds absolutely amazing. Second, I've always thought that this song has to do with the control technology and material possesions now have over people. The line: "Let me hear you Make decisions Without your television" only further confirms this belief. "Let me see you stripped down to the bone" This line is asking the person to turn away from their materialism, and see how life is (even if just for a moment) without the influence of technology and possessions. |

| Three Days Grace – Pain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I don't think this song is emo or kinky. To me, this song is about people dealing with apathy. They just want to feel something. Pain is the only thing they can seem to get themselves to feel, and they'd rather feel something than nothing. | |
| Shiny Toy Guns – When They Came For Us Lyrics | 18 years ago |

To me, this song represents the loss of innocence. The "robots" is referring to the people who have suffered hardship and have now become robotic in their actions, just doing what they need to get by. The "children" who have been taken away is their previous joy and naivety. "Shiny toy guns" I interpret as being the loss of that aura of optimism children have around them, because toy guns can't hurt anyone. The loss of the toy guns can mean that there are now real guns, meaning pain and other hardships seem much more real. The last verse, I believe, describes the incident that caused the child to realize the cruelty of the world. To me, the last verse describes the death of the child's father, and from that moment on, he was probably forced to grow up too fast. |
