Colin Hay wrote this about his most well-known song - Down Under - which was a huge hit in the US and Australia in the 80s. Colin was the lead singer of Men At Work, and Down Under was their biggest song. It was almost a novelty song - just all about what it was to be an Aussie. So his brilliant feat is writing that song. Whenever he plays it live, he hears the crowd roar. Personally, I love the second verse - there's a touch of tiredness about it - esp that line, "you have to pay the play the world when it won't wait for you". Hmm. |
