This song is AMAZING. but yeah, same as said before- girl gets a call from her boyfriend and from the things he left unsaid she knew she's get hurt again so they break up. she's still in love with him and can't get used to being alone. the Seven Days of Lonely are the first week she spends without him. |

yeah, it's not a drug reference. the "trippin'" is when he calls her and begs her not to break up with him, and later she does the same. the "he had to get out" [which was earlier called a drug reference too] is referring to him needing to get out of the relationship- he's leaving her and he "ain't coming home". also, i think it's "using HIM", not "using IT", "working hard to find" not "working hard to buy", and "now he's trying to forget her" not "now lets try to forget it". i'm gonna guess that the 2 ppl got together when they were both trying to forget about each other, and now here they are again trying to forget each other, but now its for a different reason. i don't wanna be in love, i don't wanna be in love♥ |

now it's my turn to take one line that could sound like a guy is gay/bi and twist the rest of the lyrics to fit that story... no. just cuz ONE line could be INTERPRETED that way doesn't mean the writer is gay/bi. and anyway, like my english teacher said- in a poem [or a song] "I" is not always the writer. i think this song was about a fight between 2 guys and one of the guys is trying to tell the story through the song: "Michael plays with stars" ~it's later established that Michael is a gambler, so he gambles with "stars"- high rollers? "hold tight, can't you see that it's hurting me" ~hold tight as in wait, or hold up, this fight is ruining our friendship "But i've got the buzz" ~i thought this might be a reference to being drunk, so i looked up Marlon Brando and Greta Garbo, no histories of alcholism there, so that might not be right, but thats what it sounds like to me. "Michael Valentine, can't we unite?" ~can't we stop fighting and be on the same side? side track here, blue suede and Memphis... Elvis reference much? "with your new suit and your black tie/ you're just a gamblin' man all proper-like" ~this establishes Michael as a gambler (see above as well) and i think the speaker in the song is almost mocking him, the way Brandon sings this line.. "and i broke to the right and caught your eye/ shut your mouth and wave goodbye" ~this is the actual fight- the speaker "breaks to the right" and "catches" Michael in the eye with his fist. then he basically says to Michael "get lost"... "I ain't gonna let you rain on this parade" ~the speaker's having a good time, and Michael did *something*... so he gets in a fistfight and tells Michael to leave so he won't ruin his good mood... "straight faced with misery tonight" ~he just realized that this fight might have ended his friendship with Michael for good. "i know he's gonna be there tonight" ~he know's Michael is going to be *there*, wherever 'there' is, and he's going to find out if this fight split them for good? |

Katy's trying to forget their relationship and put it behind her, and he's telling her that he understands how hard it is to forget the love they once had. Ocala is a city (i think in Florida but not sure), and he says that her eyes shine brighter than all the lights of the city. (awww, isn't that sweet?) looking to the sky, he wishes it was his but it's not- just like her. he wishes she was still his. "let's not pretend like you're alone tonight i know he's there and you're prob'ly hangin' out and making eyes while across the room he stares i'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor and ask my girl to dance.. and she'll say 'yes' because these words were never easier for me to say or her to second-guess, but i guess that i can live without you but without you i'll be miserable at best" Katy is at a party or something without him and he knows it, but he knows pretending she isn't will hurt more. he also knows this other guy is there and guy #2 likes Katy. guy #2 is hanging out with Katy and she's flirting with him, so guy #2 gets the guts to ask Katy to dance (and/or go out with him) and she says yes- because it came too easily to guy #1 when he said he was ok with letting her go, and she 'second-guessed' his words and knew they weren't true, and we already established that she wants to let go of guy #1. "you're all that I hoped I'd find in every single way and everything I could give is everything you couldn't take cause nothing feels like home you're a thousand miles away and the hardest part of living is just taking breaths to stay cause I know I'm good for something i just haven't found it yet but I need it" he's talking about how perfect Katy is and how much he loves her, and that 'nothing feels like home' cause she's so far away, he always felt at home when he was with her. The hardest part of living is taking everything in stride and not giving up, and he knows he has a reason not to give up but he doesn't know what it is. he really needs a reason to stay alive. [chorus] [vocals- i love these!! his voice is so amazing] "and this'll be the first time in a week that i'll talk to you and i can't speak been three whole days since i've had sleep cause i dream of his lips on your cheek and i got the point that i should leave you alone but we both know that i'm not that strong i miss the lips that made me fly" he hasn't spoken to her in a week but he can't say anything because he's so hurt by her being gone, and he doesn't know what to say anymore. he hasn't slept because he's dreaming of Katy and guy #2 and that hurts him. he doesn't sleep so he won't dream and then he won't get hurt. Katy's told him to leave her alone and he knows he should, but he loves her too much and doesn't want to let her go. he loves her a lot and he just misses her and wants her back. [chorus] i love this song so much. its beautiful :) having the two guys sing alternate lines makes it so pretty. i feel bad for the guy it's about, i ttly sympathize for him. does anybody know which voice is which though? this song and "You Be The Anchor...", it's been bugging me that i don't know whose voice is whose. |

i love this song. unicorns, lol. loong story there... so how he's like, "I was just a lost soul who needed a home I was filling a void with you" is sorta saying he went out with this girl because he just had to fill the emptiness (left by a previous relationship? idk). and then he "spent three years wishing for two things- that one day you'd break and I'd get see how all the choices you made could drive you insane" because the relationship went bad or something, he found out he didnt really love her, or something like that, but hung around anyway so he could watch her fall. |

luv this song. so much. got M2M on Monday, FINALLY (!!!) listened to it this weekend... luv it alot. the whole cd is freakin great... but even so... the band said they wanted M2M to show what they've become as a band. if this is what they've become, they've kinda let us down. sure, this cd freakin rocks, but when u compare this to Hybrid Theory, this is crap. c'mon, guys, i expected better from you. it's funny- HT has so much emotion in it. the new album has a lot of political commentary and, at least in that department, theres a lot more to be angry about than when HT came out. yet M2M has LESS emotion/anger in its songs. it's missing their signature edge. the new songs are way too passive. :( lets hope that any future albums are better than this |
