i totally think this song is about her worrying what other people think about her. and i don't think it's meant to be conceited at all. I feel oh so glamerous Lookin' super fabulous Sometimes I'm insecure Something I can't ignore All the flashy cameras Try my best to handle it I'm just the girl next door I can hear the rumours take off she gets dressed up for premieres, and always feels the need to look 100% even for the gym, yet her every move is criticised in the press, and even if she feels good, the online gossip threads have something negative to say about her. she's admitting her insecurities and sayin that she knows shes not entirely perfect and 100% confident, but she still gets all the shit from the journalists and bitter critics. i think this song is amazing. so amazing i am giving you a line by line of what I think. note i said I.. idk if it means this really. '(i used to make out with) medusa' i love how (im assuming its about oli's ex) oli compared her to medusa. and i think by doing that he meant her personality was ugly. for example medusa was so ugly she turned whoever looked at her to stone, but i don't think oli meant that she is physically ugly. i think he's using it do describe her personality or behaviour. 'buried them at sea' the sea is so deep and so black, you can never find the bottom. which is exactly why he put photos and memories of her there. Medusa, Medusa, i think this bit is about looking into her eyes and falling in love, which is why it hurts to break up with her. the cast to stone bit i think is a great reference because inside he felt nothing towards her after this implying his heart is stone because of her? aahh this song is beautiful. the lyrics are amazing and this band are brilliant live. the lyrics to me seem to be a revenge theme. i have this preoccupation with revenge though so everything is to do with it. :) do not change the subject lets go chase the sunset bring me the horizon bring me the horizon the lets go chase the sunset bit is about grasping your youth while its there, i read an interview about his tattoo's and oli said 'you are only young once' and i completey agree with him. im not sure if you rread the book in the EP but theres a big paragraph about his friend that died, and he didnt live at all.. he was 17 if i rememeber rightly and all he had done with his life was attend school. oli is saying fuck this. live for now. live for yourself. life is short and youre dead a fucking long time. lets go chase the sunset i think refers to not letting the day end. to clinging onto every moment and making it special idk. i only just got up. tell me if im talking bullshit. xo |

i was at the brixton show (04/11/2005) when they played this. i brought the bootlegged dvd of it too (shh) it sounded to me when i was there like a load of drunken mumbling but as it was late 2005 he was obviously sober when i relistened on the bootlegged dvd it sounds like (dont quote me i said it sounds LIKE) you came in my life and _____ and _____ and you threw, alll of your(?) things out the window, you're gone, you're gone, you're gone.... and then he repeats the 'you're gone' bit another 3 times.. it went straight into i never told you what i do for a living after this song, so idk what that has to do with the song im not sure xo |

i never understood this song up til recently. it meant alot to me personally. like the 'im taking back the life you stole'.. i took back everything about me that was fake/not me.. and im so much happier for it. everything line of this song means so much to me, and its really just the most amazing song ever about being who you are, revenge, and just having so much hate (mine was at myself) i always took what it meant to me as the real meaning, so i listened properly and i love it even more. this song is my reason for my mcr obsession, it (and the band) made me who i am today :D im getting 'taking back the life you stole' and a pair of handguns tattoeed in two weeks :D xo |

this song is about how gerard sometimes can't deal with his position kids are so fake these days. they have been into chem for like a few months and start telling everyone MCR saved their lives. its ridicolous (sp?) he doenst know how to react to fans anymore. and the bit about 'would you sign this photograph cos im your biggest fan, would you leave me lying here.' is about all chem seem to do for everyone else, and how everyone wants a piece of them, but what would anyone do for them? i, personally, would take a bullet for all 5 of them. but its aimed at the poser fans i think. hence the heavier sound of this song. xo |
