Seems to me that it's about making it even when odds are stacked against you and just enjoying yourself when you finally get there... I hope to hell that this isn't their last album. J.E.W. are, without a doubt, my favourite band... and for some reason I still haven't seem them live. Still it's starting to sound like a good album however overdue it might be. Oh and by the way, for those that are wondering, the title comes from Jim's side project; Go Big Casino... |

Personally I believe that this song is about repressed emotions after a traumatic event of some kind. "She doesn't look she doesn't see, opens up for nobody." Shows that she doesn't acknowledge her emotions and instead chooses to bottle them up. "Narrow line, she can't decide, Everything short of suicide, Never hurts, nearly works." shows that she is struggling with the event; she doesn't know how to deal with it; the repression is almost working but as shown by "nearly works" it isn't going as she planned. As for the whole, "Something scratching its way out" thing, that seems to be the even resurfacing in her memory. The final lines, "No one expects You to get up All on your own with No one around." shows that the girl/woman is trying to deal with this all on her own and is failing... Damn fine song; my favourite on the album... |

I don't think that the whole, "No blinding light, or tunnels to gates of white" thing is about his disbelief in God. It's just him saying to his lover; 'All we need is each other, regardless of what is waiting for us in the afterlife." Hence the lines "Just our hands clasped so tight. I think that this song is about death being the next step in a journey between two lovers. "You and me Have seen everything to see." It's not like the singer is waiting for death to come, but he doesn't fear it and will embrace it as the next step of a natural existence. |
