Decemberists are better than anyone else, but this is great too. It's about a very lonely guy that meets a girl, who he ends up falling in love with, only to find out that she left. So sad. But not as sad as Leslie Ann Levine by the Decemberits. That's just beautifully depressing. Cows in the music video for this. Shins lyrics are pretty random. You really have to listen closely to find the meaning. |

This is the Decemberists song you can dance to. It's upbeat and easy to sing along to. I have no idea how Colin comes up with these genius things. My sister introduced me to this song about a year ago when I became interested in the Decemberists. Now, they're one of the most important things in my life. |

It is summer rain, you can tell if you turn it up and listen closely. I'm thinking WWI, though I could be wrong. Who knows. Colin Meloy, that's it. It's dry in this hot summer desert, so he wants summer rain to fall on the houses and the boulevard, of which there are none. So, he misses all that. And Cafe bars. Do you think he got brownies at some? Ha ha. Charabanc is a thing for holding babies, so when he says "my baby" he means it literally. He's a father. Sooo he misses not only his girl but his kid too. |

It is a prequel to Leslie Ann Levine, it's obvious. "I laid you down in the grass of a clearing. You wept but your soul was willing." For those of you that are doubting a rape, read these lines. Over and over again. What else could it be? He laid her down to pull her aching teeth? Anyways, I doubt she was in love with him. He just is so spoiled he thinks she is because he's so wealthy. He really thinks it's true love, so he says they must die. But as he jumps she runs off. She couldn't have had Leslie while falling, because labors aren't that quick! And Leslie did live three hours, and if a baby fell from the Dover cliffs they'd die instantly. So that didn't happen. Infanta doesn't go into this at all, because this is in England and Infanta's somewhere near a jungle. How'd Leslie get all the way over there? And she couldn't be princess because you don't just float from England to somewhere in Asia in less than three hours. And you can't make a baby corpse princess! This doesn't go into Romeo and Juliet! Neither of them wanted to die, and they were about the same ranking. There families just hated each other. Romeo and Juliet are WAY different than Miranda and Mr. Levine. And that is the opinion of the me. |

I completely agree that this goes along with we both go down together. It makes so much sense, that the baby in this song is the daughter of Miranda from wbgdt, and then Miranda runs off while the cad man dies. And it can't be about abortion, because Leslie was born much too soon, born at nine and dead at noon, meaning that her Miranda simply just had her too early. And I think she curses her mother's name because she is angry that her mother didn't just jump off the cliff with her father and making Leslie be born, just to die three hours later. It makes sense. |

MY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG! I love the Decemberists as a whole. On iTunes it says I've listened to it 138 times, but it's more like triple that because most of the time right before it ends I drag it back up to the beginning. I used to think it was just about a guy who brought his girlfriend up to the beach and then died, but now that other people have suggested different meaning I'm really not sure. KEEP ROCKING COLIN! He's such a dreamboat. |
