| Stars – Your Ex-Lover Is Dead Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I agree with eoin... these lovers AREN'T over each other. They have both moved on with their lives... but their meeting starts recalling all the good and bad they had. symbolized by the rain and their cab drive together which protects them from it. The reason why he can't remember her name is because they both had forced themselves to forget each-other. she thinks he's sad because their last meeting didn't end on a good note... so she assumed it would only be natural for him to be sad. but that wasn't the case he was just trying to remember all the things he had forgotten. ................... "This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin" the love they had is a blemish in her life. and keeps her from being able to attract a new lover. "You tried to reach deep but you never got in" you wanted me... but because of your sin i didn't let you in. "And now you're outside me, you see all the beauty" when you're away from me... you see how amazing we could have been. "Repent all your sin" She's asking him to change. ................... "It's nothing but time and a face that you'll lose" When you hold onto a dead ex-lover... all you lose is time and a face. you'll still have your dreams and happiness. but i agree with eoin... because they are both willing to give up time... shows just how hard they are willing to try. "I chose to feel it and you couldn't choose" One of them really wanted love... but the other couldn't decide what they wanted. and if they did decide what they wanted, they probably couldn't act upon it "I'll write you a postcard, I'll send you the news" They'll say they'll keep in touch. "From the house down the road from real love" They'll show each other their new lives... which they'll say is "real" love. .................... "Live through this and you won't look back" They command each other to just go along with it, move on and don't try to bring back what's already dead. .................... LOL!! but they go ahead and try to add one more thing!!!! "There's one thing I want to say so I'll be brave You were what I wanted I gave what I gave I'm not sorry I met you I'm not sorry it's over I'm not sorry there's nothing to say I'm not sorry there's nothing to save" and here they go back to forgetting each-other. Boy they sure have a lot to say for not having anything to say... hahahahaha i love this song. so true to life. I think love is wanting to be with someone who you'll never truly be with... but who you'll always want to be with. and do things accordingly. I think the best marriages are the ones in which the couple can never get close enough. |

| The White Stripes – St. Andrew (This Battle Is in the Air) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this song is beautiful and sad. it makes me wanna cry... it's about wanting St. Andrew to save you but slowly realizing you weren't true. you could probably interpret it as being left behind during the rapture. or being at the gates of hell and realizing it's not heaven. "this battle is in the air (if she was in heaven it would be below.) i'm looking upwards where are the angels? (there are no angels to be found) i'm not in my home (she's not in heaven) st. andrew don't forsake me (don't leave me on earth) st. andrew don't forsake me (don't leave me here) who is here to greet me? (she's not at heaven's gates) the children are crying (children are being tortured... or know the apocalypse is coming) i'm not in my home i travel backwards in ecstacy (she looks frantically back in time to figure out where she went wrong) where are the angels? don't forget me st. andrew i've been true (she tries to convince him that she's been true) what do i need to say? (she asks what she needs to say to be saved.) what do i need to say?" (there's nothing she can say.) |

| The Raconteurs – Steady, As She Goes Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I believe this song is about rushing into relationships. It's about a cycle of finding someone you like, going steady... (hahaha), rushing into marriage (even though you don't know them), then breaking up. "Find yourself a girl, and settle down Live a simple life in a quiet town" This is the first verse and it shows how he just rushes into marriage (or commitment) with people he doesn't even know. "Your friends have shown a kink in the single life You've had too much to think, now you need a wife" Because other people's opinions... the media and so on... He decides that he needs a wife NOW. No matter who it is. "When you have completed what you thought you had to do And your blood's depleted to the point of stable glue Then you'll get along Then you'll get along" After getting married... and doing everything he thought he was supposed to do... everything just dies... and he realizes that he chose the wrong person. When he finally loses all passion for her... he will be able to move on. She leaves him and he looks for another girl... "Steady as she goes (steady as she goes) So steady as she goes (steady as she goes) Well here we go again, you've found yourself a friend that knows you well But no matter what you do, it always feels as though you tripped and fell" This guy falls in love with every girl that becomes his friend. He gets too involved... and is clouded by his vision of marriage to make sound judgments. He somehow knows that it's his fault but he doesn't want to admit it because he is trying everything he can to make the relationship work. "Settle for a world neither up or down Sell it to the crowd that has gathered round Settle for a girl neither up or down Sell it to the crowd that has gathered round" I think this part is about song writing. Falling in love with people who aren't right for you... And writing songs about them and "selling it to the crowd" as if they are the best thing ever. "Steady as she goes Are you steady now?" This song is about how this guy believed that marriage would be able to make his life better. About how he thought going steady would make his life better. The narrator asks "are you steady" which can be viewed in many different levels. Being steady is being content with where you are at... which he is obviously not. But being steady is also how he is when a girl leaves... his heart becomes hardened and he just continues to fall for girl after girl and continuing on this track of dissatisfaction. |

I think we all pretty much established what this song means. so i'm just gonna give my interpretation of this one line: "Our older brother bit by a vampire For a year we caught his tears in a cup And now we're going to make him drink it Come on Alex, don't die or dry up" I think this is about how alex was trying to make people feel sorry for him. He cries infront of everyone to make them feel sorry for him. kinda going with the whole, "misery loves company". but the family has had enough and they just let him rot in his own sorrow by making him drink his own tears. saying no, we're not gonna take it anymore. hoping that he would get sick enough to change. The whole moral of the story is if you're just gonna rot there and do nothing, it would be better for everyone if you just died. I think in the end of the song the father kills him. and that's why the people dance to the "police disco lights". They dance but they are not happy. They wished they could of helped him, but they couldn't. |

| Dude, misshape. The moral of the song is just to treat people with some respect. Can you not see that if a person who comes to clean your house can very well steal from it??? That's all i meant by saying "they have the upper hand". | |

This song is awesome. (adding to what artbeat said:) It starts off with a drunk White American who goes to Mexico and meets a Mexican chica. He then starts demanding things from her as if he's all that. She is obviously pissed so she drugs him with... "candy cane Black rum, sugar cane Dry ice (and) something strange" He then passes out. "La la la la la la la La la la la la la la" He then wakes up realized he just been robbed... "Went home and learned how To clean up after myself." this line refers how many immigrants are house cleaners and clean up after "White Americans". he goes home and realizes that he's an idiot... and decides he'd better start cleaning up after himself. the moral of the story is, you can't use immigrants and then treat them like crap. because what you don't realize is that the immigrants actually have the upper hand. so you better treat them nice. if you ever went to mexico... as an immigrant... and treated them the same crappy way you treat them here. you would get beaten. "White Americans, what? Nothing better to do? Why don't you kick yourself out You're an immigrant too? Who's using who? What should we do? Well, you can't be a pimp And a prostitue too." BOooya!!! another awesome song by Jacky White!!! |
