Just my interpretation. the song also has very strong comparisons to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind "God, that was strange to see you again "Introduced by a friend of a friend" --Met unexpectedly somewhere "Smiled and said, "Yes, I think we've met before" In that instant it started to pour" --She recognizes him and indicated that the have indeed met before. It begins to rain. "Captured a taxi despite all the rain We drove in silence across Pont Champlain And all of that time you thought I was sad I was trying to remember your name" -It's raining, they decided to share a taxi, He looks a bit sad, so she ask him, he responds " I was just trying to remember your name. "This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin" --Now fast forward and they have had a relationship, she has had bad relationships in the past and has trust issues. "You tried to reach deep but you never got in" --He tries to help her, yet he just can not even get close enough to her to do it. She has dedicated this song to the lead singer of the Liars, I think it's him leaving for tour and she wants him to stay, "They don't love like i love you" is referring to her saying the fans don't love you I love you, so don't go on tour "My Kind Is Your Kind" Both musicians, "I'll stay the same" means when he comes back, she will still be the same girl that he left. and Maps i think is pretty self explanatory, it's the maps he will use while on tour. |

I'm thinking the lyric "Take The Big King Down," is incorrect and says "Take The Big Game Down," which would also add to the songs title Elephant Gun which in fact is used to take big game down such as tigers and elephants when hunting exotic big game was legal and the sport of the rich. But Personally I think it's a song about a man who is old now, and stuck in this town, and wishes he left when he was young to go hunting in the wilds of some far off country, or that could be a metaphor for leaving and just experiencing the world, I get images of British Ruled India, It's a very lovely song. |
