| I think she is writing as if she has just slit her wrists because she wants to be in heaven, closer to God, but now she regrets doing it because she knows that suicide is not God's will and will actually keep her away from heaven. She lies bleeding and regretting that she ever cut herself, but she doesn't know if it's too late to be saved because she is too weak to save herself and she needs help. Maybe it was the slow slip of consciousness that made her realize that God is even real in the first place and now she is asking for forgiveness and for God to remember her; "will you be on the other side, or will you forgive me?" Great album altogether. | |

| Wow Jake, you really are depressed aren't you. You want to feel useful but you don't want to get out of bed to find what your purpose in life is. You rely on your girl friend to give you joy, but what you really seek is to love yourself. Anyways, you can never truly love her until you can love yourself. I totally agree with your interpretation of this song and no matter what mood I am in I can listen to this song and be reminded of the danger that comes from looking inward exclusively. I hope I am not offending you, but it sounds like you need to seek out the truth about life and don't stop until you find it. I will not preach to you so suffice it to say that you just need to search. You seem very intelligent so keep your head up; we could all use another great mind in this world. And sorry everybody else for going off topic a bit, but Jake's post compelled me. Cheers! | |

This is a beautiful song about a man's devotion to his lover. He has see the evil, self-destructive, and sinful world. We only preach morality and change to feel righteous, but really we embrace this sin to satisfy our weakness. The world would die without this false satisfaction (afterall we are only human right?). This lesson he has learned about life and he is trying to explain it to his lover to protect her in hopes that she will not have to learn the hard way as he did. He admits he is fragile but goes on to say how brave he feels in this dangerous world when he is with her. In th chorus he is comforting her, telling her that in this rain filled world that cries with sorrow he sees her white eyes (her innocence) as she floats through space (not knowing of the evil around her) and he is saying that he will protect her even if she dies ("leaves"). He is willing to die for this woman because he wants to preserve her innocence. His love goes beyond the limits of this world. He will protect her even in death by protecting her in life. |

| That is just rediculous Diego! I think you need to get your head out of the gutter. When you interpret a song try to think about who wrote it and who sang it. Mabey if this was a Marilyn Manson song your theory would fly.I did get a good laugh though. | |

I just had to comment on tis one. I don't see how everyone can miss that this song is about Jesus! "Crucified for *eternal* sins" (*listen to the song it says "eternal"*) This is what Jesus did for man. "re-invent myself, shed my alter-skin" This refers to resisting the humanity and sin that lives in all of us and following a higher calling. "try to break the mold, severed whole" again breaking away from ourselves and man's nature to sin even though it is like severing our bodies. "first you find your threshold *level*, breathing out your toxic level" (*again a typo, but regardless either way*) This speaks of how we as humans try to push the boundaries of what is right with God and with what satisfies our desire to sin but still keeps our sanity. Thus, breathing out on to the world the lifestyle that is toxic to others as they see and follow or think it's o.k. "long slow rope is hanging, now we know what's coming" This is the guilt we all feel. We know we will have to pay for our sins, we know what's coming...judgement, we need a superman. "oh superman where have you gone?" Superman is Jesus who once walked the earth and taught us how to deal with sin and by dying has saved us from the "long slow rope", he is calling out to Jesus. The next four lines are descriptions of how we block out the guilt of our morality: more time, a six leaf clover (the impossible chance of God just forgetting we ever sinned), more *head* (*beer head* refering to the drugs we take to drown our guilt), and lastly sounds (music, or even voices of those that try to justify our actions claiming that we don't need a savior at all). Yes we are all like babys playing tricks with ourselves and we have sucked ourselves dry of hope or faith (and that is exactly where the world wants us). "We destroy ourselves to rise again, Open up yourself like a Jesus sun" Here he shifts to speak to the listener about how to be saved. This comes from Jesus himself. We need to be born again pulling ourselves away from our own desires and opening our lives to God's will...like a Jesus *son* who has lived an example life to lead us. "Only way out is through way past you, First you get to human level run right through your bullshit pedals" The only way for salvation is to break away from ourselves, humbling ourselves, accepting God's way and not feeding ourselves lies and bullshit that get in the way of our salvation. "Long slow rope is hanging, now you know what's coming" because we are running out of time, we don't live forever and the "long slow rope" is hanging. "Oh Superman, what have you done?" Here he is shouting to God asking why he has made it to be this way. Then the song goes into the chorus again that I explained before, but at the end this time he says "you only know how to lose" Speaking to those that rely on the drugs, or sounds, or 6 leaf clovers, telling them that this is why they always fail and will continue to do so as long as they ignore the truth that is already in all of us. So thank you for reading if you have gotten this far. Sorry it was so long, but I love this song and wanted to do it justice. Let me know if you like my comments or if you would just like to inquire. Thanks again... |
