Clutch – Electric Worry Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's a song about living life on the road. Without being bound by chains of dependency or having something expected of you. The line that best sums up the song is "Life of a drifter, that's the life for me". He's saying he doesn't need lots of money or fancy living to enjoy life and live it to its fullest, even his girlfriend(?) who calls him a liar or whatever will not hold him back. In a world of demands and prospects you're always expected to study hard and become a lawyer or whatever and have a materialistic life that isn't governed by you, it takes guts to stand up to that dogma and just hit the road; every new street corner is your new home and you are subject to none; without a master of your own.

Rammstein – Hilf Mir Lyrics 17 years ago
The scary thing about this song is that i think we have all been, at one point, like the girl in this song.

Where we have done something that both fascinates us and causes pain.

"Das feuer liebt mich..
Das feuer liebt mich nicht.."

The fire loves me..
The fire loves me not.

It's not even childlike innocense.. it's like, becoming whole again and being engulfed in this.. almost cleansing flame. That's what makes it creepy to me.

Maybe some of you even know someone who plays with knives in this way - how they say that the blade loves them, and it feels good when they are cut.. but they bleed and bleed and eventually bleed to death.

Incredible song by a great band. :)

Sabaton – 40:1 Lyrics 17 years ago
Poland, who had witheld against both German and Soviet forces. Who were at the time allies due to the Nazi-Soviet pact. No-one could come to Poland's aid; she was cut off.

No army may enter that land,
That is protected by Polish hand!

Great song, i love it. Full of patriotism. Thank you to our Polish brothers from England!

Sam Sparro – Black and Gold Lyrics 17 years ago
I know this sounds strange.. but to me, it's about the materialistic capitalist society most of us live in. Particularly since the video shows Sparro in a tuxedo, along with a limosine. Gold is a sign of wealth and power, and 'black' is represented in the tuxedos and limosine - again, status of wealth.
--------------------------------------------------
If the fish swam out of the ocean
And grew legs and they started walking
And the apes climbed down from the trees
And grew tall and they started talking

Could be a reference to people starting up corporations, buisinesses.. coming from nothing into something.

I looked up into the night sky
And see a thousand eyes staring back
And all around these golden beacons
I see nothing but black

Might actually be a reference to the fact that despite having money and wealth, it isn't something that can 'buy' happiness or spiritual peace. (for example, money can't buy someone you love) which is the 'black' surrounding the 'golden beacons'

The way Sparro references "you" and "fear that it's all just a bunch of matter" may also suggest that he doesn't want to think his life consists only of wealth, only of money and not emotional equity.

If you're not really here
Then i don't want to be either
I want to be next to you
Black and Gold

Finally, the chorus which talks about how the "Black and Gold" (money and status, and the 'black' that surrounds having so much 'gold') is not worth giving up who he really is or who he wants to be with.

DISCLAIMER: I'm sorry for the long post! I just wanted a bash at song analysis. ^^ I definately agree with the previous posters though that it is about God, i just wanted to see if there was a hidden message in there somewhere or a different meaning :)

R.E.M. – Boy In The Well Lyrics 18 years ago
I believe that this song is about abuse by parents.

Having enough, and walking our the door.

"Look at this, it's me, walking away"

And the new friends that embrace him:
"My new friends are offering things I've never dreamed
It's beautiful
I'd like for them to take me on"

perhaps it is a referance to drugs.

"Boy in the well" could be a metaphorical referance to depression.

"You wanted me to be someone that i could never be" - His parents could be dissapointed, angry, that he did not take the right career, he wasn't what they considered to be "normal", might have been shunned.

Just my thoughts on this mysterious and great song.

Hinder – By The Way Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is interesting. I think it could be seen to have a dual meaning.

I think that the first part clearly states that he is cheating;

"In the winding down hours
I let your heart down again"

And when he speaks about how "old habits die hard", he is saying how no matter what girl he is with - he will always end up cheating.

Perhaps in this next verse, he is beginning to regret his actions, and he wishes that his girlfriend was not feeling hurt and upset:

"I'm in the middle of a breakdown
Watching you scream
In the middle of a breakdown
Screaming at me"

He's sad that she's sad. It's causing him pain.

Perhaps in this next line, she's taken him back. She's forgiven him. And now, she's trying to make sure everything is red-and-rosy, like he must now live by what she says and what her rules are:

"What made you think you'd have it your way?"

And when he says "By the way, i didn't warn you that i'd always stay the same"

.... It's as though all of his faults are still there, despite her trying to fix it all again, he's only gone to hurt her for a second time.

The last verse is the most debatable. It talks about how they are both

"Battered and bruised
Broken confused"

- This could mean emotionally, or, it could mean that a fight broke out, she was sick of him cheating, and it resulted in violance. However, these next lines...

"It's time we both knew
Can't stop what I started
This time we both lose, lose"

Could be seen as one of two things: 1) She's decided to cheat on him too, and so in the end there is no trust, no love, and they both "lose"
or 2) That he wanted to keep it a secret, but she persisted, and now that she's found out, everything has fallen out - from what may have possibly been a meaningless one-night-stand affair.

The line he repeats in every verse:

"Don't say I didn't warn you
That I'll always stay the same"

Lead us to believe that he's already told her that he'll end up doing what he's doing, And that she still knew this and tried to love him. But, in the very last line:

"I didn't warn you that I'd always stay the same"

Could be him, saying that in the end.. all the empty promises he made.. all the times he told her he'd changed.. they were all lies, in the end.

Perhaps this is left last because it's his regret after it's all finally over?

Just my little input. Love the song, love the lyrics.
