| The Mountain Goats – International Small Arms Traffic Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A friend who went to a mountain goat's show said that the song was introduced by saying, "you know that feeling when your sigificant other drinks the last beer in the fridge...." | |
| The Mountain Goats – No Children Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I agree with elmaroni. The point of the song is that it's not sad. The husband and wife mutually detest eachother and have no complications keeping them together, hence "no children". It's a load of sarcasm directed towards those who think its horrible that they won't work on the marriage. The narator's saying, "oooh, divorce, I'm so horrible!" It's such a great song because it contradicts the way people are expected to react to things in society. | |
| Elliott Smith – Needle in the Hay Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The songs obviously about drug addiction, perhaps elliott's. Someone had been curious about the "hay stack charm" part. It might just be my own savior complex talking, but it seems to me that the beginning of the song is about someone close to the addict (lover, friend, faimily member) who thinks they can help. The addict, lost in a haystack, is like a cross they bear. The second verse seems like its about the addicts younger brother or someone who idolizes him "wearing his clothes". The addict is regrettful over his bad influence "pulling him through the needle". ....so many possibilities for this song. Not knowing anything about the artist's personal life, its impossible to know where exactly its coming from. Regardless, Elliott smith was a really an amazing songwritter. |
