I think its interesting that no one has discussed what the significance of '5 minutes to midnight' could be in reference to. The last trip to catch the T home is somewhere around midnight, so with them being Boston boys, I'm sure that is where it comes from. I also think its about pot to some extent, but its a fairly straightforward song. |

I was at their show about 2 weeks ago and before Andrew started playing, he said, "This next song, is about a girl who doesn't like to talk to me anymore...", *guy in crowd says loudly, "Well FUCK HER!" Andrew: "Heh, yeah...Well, I think it was mostly my fault..." That said, I think this song is about a girl that he met/became very infatuated with/started going out with after somewhat getting over the breakup with his ex(who he eventually got back together with and recently married)....so, it became this twisted triangle, and maybe she thought he cheated on her with the ex, or all around just felt used...and he knew he wasn't completely over the ex, but at the same time, didn't want to just sit around and feel sorry for himself... But that doesn't change the fact that he did really like her... Funny how so many of Andrew's songs could be written about me... |
