| Fall Out Boy – You're a Concrete Boy Now (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| isn't the title of this supposed to be "Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying?" That is the title stated on my original album. | |
| Fall Out Boy – You're Crashing, but You're No Wave Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm almost a hundred percent certain it was based on To Kill A Mockingbird; saw that while I was going through the novel last night. Tom Robbins, an American of African ancestry, was the accused, who was later on found guilty. It had a tragic ending; he, who, in the novel, is symbolized by the mockingbird (according to Atticus Finch, his lawyer--I believe he is also the DA--it is a sin to kill a mockingbird, for they are innocent creatures indeed--all they do is sing, or do their best to please people). This idea is reflected in the line: "Unimpressed birds sing and die." True, both he and Atticus were unable to talk their way out of the case; as a result he was put in prison, tried to escape and was mercilessly killed. This is the said "tragic ending." He was helpless as a "baby boy," discriminated harshly by people surrounding him; thus he could not lift his head and face everything with confidence, for social restrictions were holding him back. Listen to this song once more, best while reading the book (especially when you get to the part about the court trials), and you'll know. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm a teenager myself and I looooove it..... sure makes me happy (and totally content) when I scare grownups out of their wits and make my parents give up on me... but not really to that extent. This song is probably just an exaggeration of how they view teenagers and perhaps even how they used to view themselves as teenagers (though I don't suppose they were that wild either) :-P |

| William Hung – She Bangs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Truly touching, indeed! Haha. Reminds me of that "EX-crush" of mine I was head-over-heels in love with last year. We used to call him ChocoBang... and looked a deathly great deal like this guy William Hung. Well, the first time I saw this Chinese man and his horrendously great performance on Idol (that never even looked like a performance), I thought, "Man, he's good!" And yeah, he sure was good! He was good at being bad, and that's why the people loved him. And his song... well, it added some to the magic and the enthusiasm of the "romance" w/ that old crush of mine. Never realized how ugly he actually was until the song (and the "handsome" Hung) faded away from my brain!!! | |

| what da heck is a "reversed" song...??? | |
| Sugarfree – Dear Kuya Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's a song dedicated to the several young men who work hard abroad trying their luck for their family. This song is actually a kid's letter to his kuya (older brother), who has been working overseas for quite a long time, whom he really misses and shows a great deal of concern for. The chorus: Nasan ka man ngayon, ano mang oras na ika’y may kailangan, tawag ka lang sa amin at parang nandito ka na rin is the kid assuring his brother that no matter what, no matter when, his family will always be there for him, full -support. However, I have a hunch that it isn't totally a song of concern, but a song of a kid's dealing with loss. The line: Matagal na rin, mula nang ika’y magpasyang subukan ang swerte, at abutin ang yong mga pangarap Sa ibang bansa kung saan ikaw ay lagging mag-isa kami tuloy dito, nag-aalala probably depicts that the older brother, who has been abroad for a "very long time," might have been killed sometime during is work, but his kid bro still believes he's just there and continues to write to him trying his best to convince himself that his brother is still alive. |

| Moonstar 88 – Torete Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is a song of a crazy girl like me to the guy whom she's so crazy in love ("torete")with--whom she always daydreams about, wishing she was there by his side, wishing he was romancing her, or more likely, wishing that she was romancing him--although she knows (and emphasizes) that it's only a short-lived crush, an intense infatuation, but not real emotion and definitely not love--just simply being "in" love. | |
| Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I actually felt the kind of feeling being depicted in this song, you know... being so in love with a guy and almost forcing him to "see" me, "take" me and get me to be his... which even progressed into some kind of a "cold war" between the two of us...later on, trying to defend myself I said something I shouldn't have said, and we had a heated fight that lasted months...we somehow--indirectly--forgave each other though no words were spoken but there was nothing to be felt, not even cold friendship but coldness in one of its most destructive forms which eventually led me to stop hoping. Later on it just dawned on me that he never really loved me (and probably never will) and the feeling completely faded away. That was the toughest, most unforgettable experience I'd ever gone through in my yet short-lived, immature "love life" and I'd hate for it to happen again. I "lost" him only last November, and until now I still feel the scars in my heart and sometimes I can even feel him, though I can't feel the emotion any longer. | |
| Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's a beautiful sad song with such deep emotion...about two people who used to be so deep in love and were probably even married sometime ago but later on as time progressed the warmth was lost despite their many efforts to hold on...it's clear that they still longed for one another and still wanted to be together but the romance had already faded away, they'd grown cold towards each other and some things were just so hard to resolve there seemed to be no way to get their relationship patched up. Indeed, one of the most horrible feelings one could ever feel in his whole life of loving and (unwanted) losing. The popular chorus phrase: "The Total Eclipse of the Heart" refers to the girl's heart being unable to feel any kind of love or emotion towards the one whom she (supposedly) still loved. | |
| Hale – Blue Sky Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Hale's classic inspirational song...one of the less-cynical/satirical/paradoxical ones...written for those pessimistic people who always think they have no luck in life and keep climbing billboards with high hopes to end their suffering. Well, no one is unlucky, we just happen to pass through challenges at one certain point in our lives; sometimes things get so hard that the rain seems to be falling above you (and perhaps you only) and the light seems to have faded away, but don't you ever give up. Never say die, no matter what happens...there's always hope for everyone...all you've got to do is go on, get your hopes high on making past the challenge and not on ending it before you've ever tried to pass it... don't worry too much about it, don't take it too seriously... all you have to do is think positive, move on and before you even know it you'll have left the problem miles behind... there's still a lot more to your life than you've ever imagined...so no matter how old you are or how definite your life seems to be... keep hoping! What do you know? It may take a lot of time... but later on you'll see... maybe tomorrow will be a brighter day... ~From DIEGO ANTONIO J. ENRIQUEZ for his beloved girl, CHLOE C. CABRERA who goes on the same school bus as him and sits in front of him... "Never give up hoping Chloe...today there might still be A.L. but you know the next day it sure's gonna be you...you know how much I love you Chloe, and that will be forever..." |
