I was thinking I was a little bit crazy, cuz there was no one with an interpretation similar to mine, not until the last comment. That was exactly what I thought about the song, but then, reading the other's comments, I questioned myself about the "I'm so sorry" part. It may refer to a feeling of guilt for the fact that he can't stand the other's presence, because/although he really REALLY likes the person (and he's trying to get over it). "Why do you come here When you know it makes things hard for me?" It always sounded like there was a friend or ex lover or something of the sort that knew he still liked the person yet, and maybe it satisfied her ego... Or they're just close friends and she didn't want to stay far from him. I don't actually think the gender matters in the music. There's no reference about it. And it's true that there are many ways to understand Morrissey's lyrics, but I'm always trying to get closer. :) The thing about obsession seems plausible to me, though it gets weird on the diary reference ("you KNEW i'd written about you, oh, so many illustrations"). Sorry for any mistakes. ^^ |
