| I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism In Your Yearbook – 1 Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I swear this song ends by repeating the line: "Go ahead and just kill me, coz I'm already dead" x 8 |

| Lifetime – How We Are Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is amazing. So much energy, best song they play live imo. Like "ironandwine" said, it's all about how fickle the kids in the scene can be. Probably following their new sound in JBD as oppossed to the "by-the-book" hardcore sound of their earlier stuff, so certain kids started trashin them for "sellin out" or whatever. I get that feeling from lines like "We may have changed, but we're still here and we came to play" and "now there's talk about the band". But they don't give a shit what ppl are saying "we don't hear", coz they are what they are n they're not out to please anyone. =) GREAT SONG. |

| Lifetime – This Boy's No Good Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The* Boy's No Good. This is probably my favourite Lifetime song. Sooo damn good. It's all about girls going for the wrong guys. I see it as a guy liking this girl and she is with some complete jerk, who treats her like crap. |

| Sublime – Saw Red Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Srsly, some of the theories on this song are just ridiculous. Fatrick got it right. So, maybe there could be some parallel to drug use as well, but the song is about a relationship. Saw red = like when a bull sees red and goes nuts, it's getting angry. The song starts of really beautifully describing the high point of the relationship, but then degrades into a description of the lows. You say it's black/I say it's white = metaphor for disagreement. |

| The Spill Canvas – Staplegunned Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Yeh... umm... everyone's so quick to point out that the songmeaning is obvious, but no-one has actually given a detailed outline. I think that he is angry and frustrated after being rejected by this girl when he feels that they have such great chemistry and she doesn't see it. So he wants to force her to be with him, by staplegunning her to him, coz she's too blind to see how great they'd be together. |

| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – No Place Like London Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Antony: I have sailed the world, Beheld its wonders. From the Dardanelles, To the mountains of Peru, But there's no place like London! Sweeney Todd: No place like London... You are young... Life has been kind to you... You will learn. There's a hole in the world like a great black pit And the vermin of the world inhabit it And its morals aren't worth what a pig can spit And it goes by the name of London! At the top of the hole sit the previleged few, Making mock of the vermin in the lonely zoo, Turning beauty to filth and greed... I too have sailed the world and seen its wonders, For the cruelty of men is as wonderous as Peru But there's no place like London! -- There was a barber and his wife And she was beautiful... A foolish barber and his wife. She was his reason and his life... And she was beautiful, and she was virtuous. And he was naive. There was another man who saw That she was beautiful... A biased vulture of the law Who, with a gesture of his claw Removed the barber from his plate! And there was nothing but to wait! And she would fall! So soft! So young! So lost and oh... so beautiful! Oh, that was many years ago... I doubt if anyone would know. There's a hole in the world like a great black pit And it's filled with people who are filled with shit! And the vermin of the world inhabit it! |

| Rites of Spring – For Want Of Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Fuck, this is a truly PERFECT song. It's so very rare for a song to be absolutely PERFECT. This is my interpretation: "I believed memory might mirror no reflection on me" = He's saying that he thinks he's changed, that the person he was in the past is not a "reflection" of the person he is (i.e. he won't make the same mistakes, as he's grown). "I believed- that in forgetting I might set myself free."=He thinks that by forgetting about what this girl did to him last time and giving their relationship a second chance he'll be happy. "But I woke up this morning with a piece of past caught in my throat- And then I choked."=The girl screws him over in the same way she did the first time, leaving him in pain. "I bled, I tried to hide the heart from the head."=He tries to forget his feelings for her (the heart) and come to a logical conclusion of what to do (the head). "I bled, in the arms of a girl I'd barely met."=He finds comfort in a random girl "I woke up this morning with the present in splinters on the ground- and the i drowned."=Shows that the girl has fucked his life over. "And if I can't see its for want of you"=His desire for her has blinded him from how wrong they are for eachother. "You said, "I see," if there's nothing here than its probably mine"=Shows that he has nothing. "My turn to see- if there's nothing here it will always be mine"=He'll always have nothing, he has concluded that he'll never learn from the mistake. Help on these last 2 lines? Hmm... "I've learned the taste of days that will always burn." "I've learned if its in the corner of my eye I can't always turn." |

| Bayside – Alcohol And Alter Boys Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Every1s correcting the lyrics, but no-one's cared to correct the biggest mistake here- The title. The song is called "Alcohol and Altar Boys" ALTAR not ALTER. It made the song hard to find on Google. Plz fix. |

| Brand New – Millstone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
No, "My own stone" is definitely correct. Millstone is NOT pronounced "Milestone". He says "I'm my own stone around my neck" referring to the book of Matthew, when Jesus said that anyone who causes one of his followers to sin shall have a millstone placed upon their neck. By saying "I'm my own stone around my neck" he's saying that he has corrupted himself. He has caused himself to sin, he is accepting responsibility for his sins. P.S. I'm seeing these guys tonight. |

| Carry On – Broken Strings Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Probably my favourite song, ever. I can't believe it wasn't already up. It's clearly about a girl, on some level. ...but it's also about "the scene" and people coming and going: "They stick around, they go away" Not sure whether the death is metaphorical or real: "She's fucking dead" Also, I've never understood the final line, but have just always loved it anyway. Anyone care to shed some light? "I LOVED THE WAY SHE FUCKING SANG IN MY HEADPHONES!!!" |

| The Notorious B.I.G. – Me And My Bitch Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is great. It's what I listen to when I'm feeling heaps romantic. It's pretty self-explanatory, he's showing appreciation of his bitch, but she dies in the end. Anyone know if this is true/who it's about? |

| Dead Prez – Animal In Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's not about slavery, I don't think. I'm pretty sure it's just about revolution. dead prez's main concern has always been revolution and this song is a way of exploring the dangers of revolution through allegorical comparision to the Russian revolution. |

Great song. About quality Vs. quantity in sXe? |

| Down to Nothing – Fire Escape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Ok, any idiot can see the Carry On references in this song. What I want to know is are they saying that Carry On sold out? Some of the lines seem to suggest that, like this: "they left the edge, and they didn’t give a shit Now, we’re “the kids with broken hearts” We’re “The hardest kids with X’s by our names” " Are they just quoting Carry On for effect, or are they saying that Carry On sold out? Someone with a clue, please answer. |

| Have Heart – Armed With A Mind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Called YOUR MIND!!!"*** This song is way too fucking good. One of the best hardcore song's ever written, possibly THE best. The first half is about stupid girls who are obsessed with appearances and the second half is about guys who think they're tough. Flynn punctuates his arguments with a powerful line at the end of each verse. i.e. "True beauty can't be seen with the eyes!" and "Boy, your true strength sleeps behind your eyes!" Here is a band that actually understands Straight-edge and that is a rarity. This song is about the FOURTH "X" in sXe. X "I Don't Smoke!" X "I Don't Drink!" X "I Don't Fuck!" X "At Least I Can Fucking Think!" The forgotten tenet of sXe is actually the most important. |

| Carry On – X's Always Win Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Hahaha, classic. This song is so good. Could this be about Chain Of Strength? "They spit lies but for years it's all I knew" I like Chain but we all know that they weren't edge. But the next few lines don't really work. It's probably just directed at a lot of different bands and ppl and not one band in particular. |
