This is my favorite song off the new album. IMO the lyrics are pondering our significance in the coming century, now that computers have the increasing ability to perform tasks superior to us. With the breakthrough of computers/robots that can even hypothesize and perform nearly intuitive tasks, where will we be in 100 years? "Show's over so take a bow" A beautifully dark interpretation of our future. |

This song is extremely impressive. The lyrics obviously refer to the inequalities and wrongs that are so apparent in this world. The chorus basically sums it up completely. In this age we need "heroes". Heroes meaning organizations and groups that are designed to aid people in need, or designed to fight for better policies, and fairer rules. Whether it be in the government, the corporate world, or in local schooling systems, it's everyone's duty to think and question what's going on around us. And then to ACT on our beliefs and work together in order to make our world a better place. |

After reading all of the comments I definately agree with most of them. This song is probably my second favorite song of all time and I really feel it's one of those songs I will rely on when things get tough. I'm not going to lie I never even realized how extraordinary Incubus is until I heard this song and went back to listen to all of their older work which I had never truly appreciated. The lyrics are absolutely amazing. I feel like it's reflecting on all those layers that people build up on their personality and their identity over the years. Be it drug addiction, loss of friends, depression, broken hearts, and all the other dark sides of life that can cause so much bitterness. It has so much beauty and hope becuase I feel the lyrics describe how a true friend or true lover would be able to dig away at all the layers that have piled up on top of the truly good and positive identity. It expresses how if you find a truly amazing person they will be able to see past the scars of life and bring out the person you want to be. |

This song is my all time favorite song. In my opinion it doesn't get better than this. I don't even know where to begin with what I think it means. I guess I'll start with the drug use. Obviously it has references to drug addiction but it can also be taken as a love song. I believe Kiedis really meant for this song to mean more than just that. He referred to god once when talking about this song. I think he's using his past experiences in the lyrics to express the way he has felt when thinking of god or some higher spiritual presence. That in the story of his life there were those pivitol moments when he sensed there was something else with him. Or at the very least needed someone to be with him. When I feel like I'm sortof lost I listen to this song and it puts me back on my feet. I can't stress enough how amazing this song is. Especially when they play it live. |
