i think it's about a failed relationship - "even though the moment passed me by.." even though he fucked this one up, he can't get over it "scars are souvenirs you never lose... " maybe the person he's talking about tried to kill themselves "you grew up way too fast and now there's nothing to believe" the person he's talking about grew up too fast, obviously, got caught up in excitement that turned out to be fake and painful, and they didn't leave anything left for John to believe - she didn't give him anything to work with, he can't forgive her "reruns all become our history" they're lives have become dramatic, like a tv show, something the both of them didn't want "think about you all the time, but I don't need the same" he doesnt need it because he knows he can't handle her again - he thinks about her, but he's done the "name" lines say to me, "if we ever fix this, i'd be descrete about it and wouldn't tell anyone what we went through before we fixed it" amazing song |

I disagree with you guys the song is about a guy who's been 'chasing' a girl for a long time, a girl who's had problems in the past with men. she's hard to understand but easy to get along with and he loves her. she finally realizes she loves him too, and she "shed's not a single tear for the things that she doesnt need", being everyone else. in her realizing she loves him too, he realizes how messed up she really is, and he doesn't believe she's changed her ways "And all you see Is where else you could be When you're at home" is him saying "I don't believe you're different, you'll always be looking for whats better; this is just a phase" but everyone interprets it differently, and I love that |
