Eminem – Not Afraid Lyrics | 12 years ago |
- Empowerment, courage, change and personal responsibility - Fighting to be an individual in this world The first verse shows he's trying to take his message to the world. A "call to arms" is how it makes me feel. His experience, even though likely about addiction etc, can be applied to a number of personal experiences. |
Bob Dylan – Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Lyrics | 14 years ago |
So many comments... And interesting what this song means to so many people. I feel connected to it right now. It is about Acceptance. Acceptance of the reality of a relationship and the other person just not working out. He's accepted who she is in reality, and now that he has, this spells the end. |
Dragonette – Liar Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sigh... Song so descibes what I am going through now... Chemistry and attraction, but I am taken in a great relationship... Just the one kiss and it would ALL get messed up terribly. Driving me a little insane right now!! |
Miranda Lambert – Airstream Song Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The song for a restless soul like me and many others... A favourite roadtrip song |
Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is absolutely the most bitter, f-you break up song there is. The I give up, you are an effing retard song. Maybe the lyrics aren't *so* scathing but the tone in how it is sung is absolutely bitter and scathing. Yet melodic and catchy. And I find it hilarious that a lot of people I know just don't even have a clue about this song. |
Arctic Monkeys – My Propeller Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's either about sex or about just kicking him in the ass to get him going! We all need that sometimes. |
Arctic Monkeys – Dance Little Liar Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Love this phrase: Can you hack your mind being riddled with the wrong memories? Lying so ingrained that they don't even know what's true anymore. Memories are now distorted with the lies. |
Arctic Monkeys – Fire and the Thud Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Totally about obsession and a kind of love at first sight. Should stay away from the girl but ends up falling for her anyway and has a tough time getting over her. Totally fitting to be followed by Cornerstone. |
Arctic Monkeys – Secret Door Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song seems like a dream where he is following his muse... |
Arctic Monkeys – 505 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song speaks to me unlike most. Being a field worker dating another field worker, I have cried to this song as it is the closest thing to describing both being a person working far away from home all the time and being the person left behind. But I crumble completely when you cry It seems like once again you've had to greet me with goodbye I'm always just about to go and spoil the surprise Take my hands off of your eyes too soon That verse is beautiful for its accuracy. Work calling back early, delays coming home. Ruined plans and disappointment. Although it is worth it for someone you love truly. |
Marit Larsen – The Sinking Game Lyrics | 17 years ago |
An invitation to a friend or new love to enter her life, warts and all. She wants a new start to clean herself of past ill feelings (guilt, shame, timidness, etc). |
Marit Larsen – Don’t Save Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this one is obvious, but I am surprized no comments. This album needs a north american release! A break-up song, but she's accepted that it is over and that it needs to end before it gets bad. The relationship has run its course and she's okay with it. No regrets. Much more positive than the usual heartache and sorrow often expressed in breakup songs, where the perspective is usually from the person on the receiving end of the breakup. |
John Prine – Angel From Montgomery Lyrics | 17 years ago |
She's a free-spirit at heart who has been trapped by her life. And now it's too late to undo the choices she has made and the freedom she gave up. Such wonderful characterization. I love this song. |
John Prine – Blue Umbrella Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Very odd the lack of comments for such a great songwriter and lyricist. This song is about a break-up. The woman left and he is wondering why. He's dwelling on it and cannot get over it, even though he is trying so hard to. Even though he knew she would leave, it doesn't make anything easier. His head understands and tells him to get over it, but his heart just won't give up. What a great metaphor with the rain and the blue umbrella, it describes the situation so well, while also expressing the mood. The visual just adds to the understanding. |
