The song is about a band name New Ethic from Tallahassee, Florida, who were in a car accident where the guitar player was ejected and killed. The members of New Ethic started I Have Dreams as a tribute to him. All the songs are about his death and coping with it.
In the same car accident a guy was paralyzed from the waist down and was on an episode of The Real World: San Diego.
