| Father John Misty – Chateau Lobby #4 (In C for Two Virgins) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
So, as you can hear from the newest upload on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6NuYJ0RzRg), the third line has been changed; from: "We’ll casually take ecstasy", to: "We'll have satanic Christmas Eve". Any comments on that? |

| Rufus Wainwright – Perfect Man Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Here's a transcription of what Rufus says about the song on the bonus disc of the album: (21:40) "Perfect Man; I've written it for Neil Tennant, actually, from the Pet Shop Boys. He thought it had too many chords in it, which, you know, maybe he was right. But Mark insisted that we keep trying, and now it's, I don't know; there's something about that track, which once again is... He saw a certain brilliance in that. And other people are picking up on it as well. The other thing that's very important about it; it's a lovely opportunity for Martha my sister to sing back-up. She's on every one of my records, except for Lulu. But it does have a lot of chords. There's a lot of chords in that song. And I have to learn them... Again." |

Here's a great interview with Rufus, where he specifically talks about the meaning of this title. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ahJbiEJyD0 |

| Kashmir – Surfing The Warm Industry Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song can actually be interpret in a couple of ways. If you've watched the documentary "Rocketbrothers", you might remember Kasper Eistrup explaining John Cornfield (the mixer/add-producer) that it's about Kasper's writer's block in the period between 'The Good Life' and 'Zitilites'. He knows people expect him to write music - he simply just can't no matter how much he tries. "It's up to you, 'cause I'm absolutely numb." I also watched a live performance on youtube where they sarcastically introduce it as "A warm ode to the beautiful and warm and welcoming music industry". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTgzexZe0pk |

| John Lennon – Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Well, don't worry, "Superstar" is sung deeply sarcastic! | |
| The Feeling – Don't Give Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This is originally written by Peter Gabriel and recorded as a duet by Gabriel and Kate Bush in 1986 on his album "So". | |
| The Feeling – Join With Us Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song is The Feeling's ultimate be-happy revolutionary statement: Quit your stressed and pessimistic life, listen to some Feeling, spread some love, and live out your dreams with us! Obviously, I can't help thinking that this could also be a call out to the gay people, who hasn't come out of the closet yet, to just do so! |

| Rufus Wainwright – Tiergarten Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yeah, I've heard it. But I definitely don't think it's Rufus' work, it's just a remix. And honestly, I don't think it adds anything interesting to the song, kind of boring and a bit of a waste of 14 minutes. But that's just my opinion, anyway! Cheack it out, here's a direct link to a streaming of it (requires Quicktime player I believe): http://isodsgn.com/music/COLETTE%20N°9/Colette%20N°9/1-14%20Tiergarten.mp3 |

| Rufus Wainwright – Tiergarten Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Indeed, "Tiergarten" is the name of the area around the old Tiergarten Zoo in central Berlin. I think this song is a simple love song for his German boyfriend Jorn and the city of Berlin. As it's typical for the whole album, the sound of this song is very romantic, jolly and adventurous. The lyrics aren't necessarily deep or full of revolutionary intensions. The song is just about leaning back and enjoying the simple state of Berlin love. |

| Rufus Wainwright – Going to a Town Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Okay, notice this cool detail to support the moving-to-Berlin idea: First time the choir sings "Tell me", they actually sing "Tell mich". "mich" just means "me" in German :D |
|
| The Feeling – I Thought It Was Over Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Ok, I've figured out what the choir sings in the two verses: I could not see Said please take me Told me And I nearly did I shut that door I sleep on more Nightmare I don't have a dream |
|
| The Feeling – I Thought It Was Over Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yeah definitely! "when the wall came down" "the [iron] curtain was crumbling" "the old republic was dead and gone" But I think it's more a metaphor for the rest of the song than actually being about the fall of the Berlin Wall. |
|
| The Feeling – I Thought It Was Over Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Can anyone transcribe what the choir sings in the verses? I simply can't hear it! | |
| The Feeling – I Thought It Was Over Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Well, most of their lyrics definitely aren't great poetry. And as the songwriter Dan said once, he writes his lyrics five minutes before they are recorded. BUT the music is simply gorgeous. They revive and renew the Beatles/Queen/Elton spirit that's deeply rooted in the European music culture. I Though It Was Over is basically a simple disco song. But it's quality beyond any modern limit. It rocks! |

| Jason Mraz – Song for a Friend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Okay, the originally submitted lyrics are very off, so I'll just add these corrected lyrics :) ___________________________________ We are magic, he said But don't let it all go to your head 'Cause I bet if you had it all figured out Then you'd never get out of bed Well, no doubt Of all the thing's that I've read what he wrote me Is now sounding like the man I was hoping to be I keep on keeping it real 'Cause it keeps getting easier, you'll see He's the reason that I'm laughing Even if there's no one else He said you've got to love yourself He said you shouldn't mumble when you speak But keep your tongue up in your cheek And if you stumble on to something better Remember that it's humble that you seek You got all the skill you need Individuality You got something Call it gumption, call it anything you want Because when you play the fool now You're only fooling everyone else You're learning to love yourself There's no price to pay When you give it what you take That's why it's easy to thank you Let's say take a break from our day And get back to the old garage Because life's too short anyway But at least it's better than average As long as you got me and I got you You know we got a lot to go around I'll be your friend, your other brother Another love to come and comfort you And I'll keep reminding If it's the only thing I ever do I will always love you Climb up over the top Survey the state of the soul You've got to find out for yourself Whether or not you're truly trying Why not give it a shot? Shake it, take control Inevitably wind up finding for yourself All the strengths that you have inside still rising (All the strengths that you have inside of you) |

| The Mars Volta – Asilos Magdalena Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Okay, here's the wikipedia-translation :) Magdalene Asylum --------------------- I arrived sick And to remake myself, I walk as a drifter Don't give me your obedience Because I'll show you my mud body Where my skin was weak With a hunger that won't let me sing In my life the darkness maintains me And when I saw you in the rain You promised me your blood I do not remain In my life the darkness maintains me And when I saw you in the rain You promised me your blood I do not remain I fell into this world I carry a blade, my God, for you How many times did you bite me? And how many times did I go? I am no longer in love with your lies In Hell I sleep because Hell is the only truth In my life the darkness maintains me And when I saw you in the rain You promised me your blood I do not remain In my life the darkness maintains me And when I saw you in the rain You promised me your blood I do not remain Morning Star Samael, I pursue you And if I burn up without wings At least I die for you |

| Rufus Wainwright – Go or Go Ahead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
...thought I just wanted to correct the lyrics above by putting it into lyrical order: Thank you for this bitter knowledge Guardian angels who left me stranded It was worth it Feeling abandoned makes one hardened But what has happened to love? You got me writing lyrics on postcards Then in the evenings looking at the stars But the brightest of the planets is Mars What has happened to love? So I will opt for the big white limo Vanity fairgrounds and rebel angels You can't be trusted with feathers so hollow Your heaven's inventions – steel eyed vampires of love You see over me I'll never know what you have shown to other eyes Go or go ahead and surprise me Say you've lead the way to a mirage Go or go ahead and just try me Nowhere's now here smelling of junipers Fell of the hay bales and over the rainbows But oh Medusa, kiss me And crucify this unholy notion of the mythic powers of love Look in her eyes, look in her eyes Forget about the ones that are crying Look in her eyes, look in her eyes Forget about the ones that are crying Go or go ahead Go or go ahead Go or go ahead and surprise me Go or go ahead Go or go ahead Go or go ahead and just try me What has happened to love? |

| Rufus Wainwright – Hometown Waltz Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about how "travelling out to find your way home" is a waste of time as there's nothing special to be found out there. So eventually you'll end back home plus the frustration of that this greener grass you thought you'd find wasn't to be found anywhere. | |
| Rufus Wainwright – Hometown Waltz Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The drummers and jugglers in Montreal Don't even exist at all So I'm tearing up these tarot cards and Venetian clowns Antique shops and alcoholic homosexuals You may ask why I want to torch my home town Partly it’s bitterness and hopping around And ‘round again on Ontario Street looking up Maybe I'll catch him on his way to the show You travel the world and find all the answers Ev'rything operates on the unattainable And then you hear your mother laugh attached to the phone Could have walked around the block, ‘cause all roads lead to home Say, will you ever, ever, ever know? Ever, ever, ever fly away? Will you ever, ever, ever go? Ever, ever, ever find a way? |

| Björk – Who Is It? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about realizing, who loves you and who don’t. It’s about taking a look around you and focus on the ones that really mean something to you. | |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Mushroom Cult (feat. Serj Tankian) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about drugs. They use the religious cult this as a metaphor for the power of the drugs and how strongly it controls your way of thoughts just as religion does. It's an evil song! | |
| Heather Nova – Doubled Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about Heather falling even more in love wiht her boyfriend, when thinking about him. On Wonderlust she introduces it with saying that she wrote it in an airplane - good place to think. | |
| Norah Jones – Sunrise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I interpret this song, as being rather ironic. I think it's about these two lovers dwelling in their cold, distanced and static relationship. Not even sunrises, the new opportunities could tempt any of them to move on. Maybe Norah is writing about a very old couple. | |
| Björk – New World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think the song is about Selma imagining herself in heaven. Her previously new world and hope, USA, didn't quite live up to her expectations, so she now tries her luck in the next world. It could actually also be about the new life she has granted her son. From now on he'll be able to see and live his own sweet and free life without any restraints! Dancer In The Dark is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, and Björk is one of the best composers ever as well! |
