this is such a beautiful song- a lyrical poem really. I think its about waking up in the morning and seeing the world in new eyes. However, there are some beautiful sexual references as well, so I am not exactly sure how that relates in with seeing the world in the morning light in a new way.. maybe the night before included really great sex? |

i like the use of legal terminology in this song. and a few clever puns. ex: "you'd have to sustain..." and of course, the metaphors. it seems to me that this song is ultimately about forgiveness. either you forgive and try to forget (stop the images and pain from "replaying and replaying in your head) or "you will push the one you love out of your life" |

maria told an audience at a concert recently that this song was a christmas present to a loved one. she sang it to her sister Kate as a joke birthday present, but that was not who it was written to. |

| i agree with the above, it seems to be a love triangle. however, its possible the girl has done something entirely non-love related which the persona knows and the girl doesn't know she knows, a betrayal of some kind perhaps. | |
| Maria Taylor – Small Part of Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this song seems to be about a relationship, the person is moving on to greater and bigger things and she wants to believe that person is going to stay with her, but only a "small part of her" believes it. i wonder if its about her and conor, but thats a complete assumption on my part. very sad, one of my favorites from lynn teeter flower |

i think this song is about moving and missing the people and places you left behind. she is glad to have moved on, but also missing what she left behind, especially one person. it seems like she is trying to start over and met new people (like the man at the bar) but it is hard. beautiful. one my favorites on lynn teeter |
