Is it just me, or does the main guitar riff heard at the end of Chorus 1 and after "This feeling won't go" near the end of the song sound a lot like the one from Pink's "Don't Let Me Get Me"? I heard it and thought, "That sounds really familiar"...and then I placed it. |

Yay...my first submitted lyrics!
This is pretty clearly directed towards Pink's ex-husband, Carey Hart. She's dealt with all of these changes and is just ready to have fun and fight. |

| Weezer – The Angel and the One Lyrics
|
I could definitely see this as the bookend to Weezer's career (I hope not), because it just wraps up a lot of things opened in previous lyrics. Practically all of Pinkerton and a good deal of songs in their other albums concerned Rivers' incompleteness and feeling of "missing something". "I am complete is what I'm saying" is the most noticeable line in the entire song, and it almost feels like, well, what else is he going to write after this?
I also thought (incorrectly) that it was "I've reached a higher plane", not place...which corresponds with one of Weezer's darker songs, We Are All On Drugs-"I want to reach a higher plane/where nothing is ever the same". Now that plane (I know, it's place) has been reached, he's complete...and they might be done. |

I just love that intro..."There was a love affair in this building
The kind of love affair, Which every respectable building must keep as a legend "
Amazing...as usual for Regina. |

Hey, Joey...I just realized my comment about clarification could have been taken as clarifying your comments. I wasn't trying to do that. I was clarifying my statements from earlier and rebutting other comments from other people. I honestly hadn't read yours. Sorry...and disregard the above comment. |

Stillwater took my point about the song name (Coldplay joining the long list of rock bands with a song named after a number).
And sorry, cjscott, but the creators of LOST debunked the purgatory theory (I thought LOST was purgatory myself too, at first).
Best song on Viva La Vida? Close...for me, the best tracks are the title tracks (Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends). |

| Weezer – The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn) Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
OK, let me clarify a bit.
A) This is obviously a mockery, so he gets to go way over the top with the effects here.
B) As Enitsuj said, Rivers is a completely different man from the early 90s to now. If everyone can stop bitching that everything Weezer released after Pinkerton and Blue wasn't Pinkerton and Blue, you can notice some good music and flashes of greatness here and there (though Green is pretty bad). Not that Pinkerton and Blue aren't great albums...they are. It's just that everything after them isn't shit, either (once again, except for Green). Maladroit isn't great, but it's not horrible. Every artist/group has a bad phase, and Green-Maladroit was it. Make Believe, if you can get past the crapfest of "Beverly Hills", wasn't THAT bad. And The Red Album is damn good...if you give it a chance.
C) I'm not going to compare this to Bohemian Rhapsody...they are differently styled songs, and Bohemian Rhapsody occupies its own place in the music pantheon.
D) The song doesn't have to stay in one genre. Rivers probably wrote this song and felt like doing something a little different, not knowing how it would work...and it came out well done. He gets to have fun every once in a while with a song without worrying about the Pinkerton/Blue worshippers, you know.
E) The "rap" barely qualifies as such, and is more laughable than serious.
F) Song of the Year as in to listen to. There are definitely better written, more emotional songs that truly touch you (hell, The Angel and the One is a perfect example). But for sheer "listening to it because it's a damn fun song" credit, Greatest Man takes the title. |

| Weezer – Getchoo Lyrics

|
You'd think whoever submitted these lyrics would have put "getchoo" instead of "get you" in the chorus, huh?
I won't repeat what everyone else said about the meaning, because it seems accurate...
I didn't start following Weezer until Make Believe (except for Dope Nose being in Amplitude), but only recently did I listen to more work than their singles (the quality of Pork and Beans and The Greatest Man That Ever Lived did it for me). I don't LOVE Pinkerton, but I consider it a fine album. I haven't listened to them all enough to rank, though. |

So...my first first comment. I can barely tell if "Oh and there it goes, there it goes" is actually "All that lingers, lingers". But this song is quite catchy, and a perfect start to Drastic Fantastic. I'm listening to the album fully for the first time now. |

Wanddado-Well, that's so obviously a parody that I have to say "Well Done". I wonder how many people will think you're serious. There is no way Rihanna or Britney (from your Britney Spears/Iraq war post) is this deep (though both would be wrong if the songs mean what you say they mean). |

Regina Spektor puts more emotion, voice, and meaning into some syllables than most artists put in an entire album. Begin to Hope was the album of the year for 2006, and it will stand the test of time as one of the best from the 2000s. As for Apres Moi, it is the best song on the best album. |

This song is pretty catchy (I'm glad I'm not that guy). the video will be nice, but I would have rather had Kiwi (though it would probably turn out to be porn). As long as they make a music video for a slow song (preferably Better That We Break or, if not that, Goodnight, Goodnight), I'll be happy. |

Chris h 11...I got more of a "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" Michael Jackson vibe from If I Never See Your Face Again..."touch me, touch meeeeee". This would make a great music video...the only problem is that it would have to be softcore porn. |

O.K, at least I'm not the only one. I heard the opening to this song and thought, "Wait...did I download the wrong song?"
Very clever, Jayemel.
This song contains some of the best lyrics I have ever heard..."I’m sorry, I did not mean
To hurt my little girl
It's beyond me, I cannot carry
The weight of a heavy world"
The visceral emotion makes this a close second on the album, only behind Better That We Break. |

The verses are a little inane...I mean the best they could do is "we are just passionate lovers with trouble under the covers"? Come on! Besides that, the chorus is so addictive this song places 12th out of 13 songs on the CD (including Infatuation), above Can't Stop. Not to say this isn't a great song...the rest of the album is just that good. |

Best song of 2007 thus far. Absolutely stunning lyrics. I already knew that It Won't Be Soon Before Long was one of the best albums I had heard this year by the time I reached this song. Better That We Break solidified it as # 1 for the first half of 2007, and as one of the best albums of the 2000s. |

To Phoenixflame:
Damn. "It's a wonder I can wipe my own ass anymore"...O.K, so the song is shit. Its hilarious music video (the only highlight) is still a pretty good mockery of ths fights girls have over boyfriends, and a damn good satiric video (a la Pink's "Stupid Girls".
But yeah...My IQ plummeted as well "She's like, so whatever" WTF???? It's clear that even though this is a good satiric video, the song is complete and utter shit.
Worst song ever...have you listened to Paris Hilton's album yet? The government could save money on prisons and executions by just locking prisoners on death row in a box and playing Paris' album over and over again. If they don't kill themselves or go into some sort of a coma, they'll rehabilitate...believe me. |

| Rihanna – Umbrella Lyrics

She has to look like a hooker (which is exactly what I though she looked like during the second verse of the music video) because that is how things work in rap/hip-hop. If there is a beautiful woman, they adhere to the adage of "If you've got it, flaunt it". It's not right, but that's just the way it is.
The song is really good, though...at least this song isn't one giant sample like S.O.S. The guitar in the chorus is nice, though Jay-Z is unnecessary. I even thought her hair looked pretty good. |

To noliesjustloveXxX:
That was also what I noticed. Her voice sounds so strange that I thought that it was either Shakira or Avril Lavigne, since there was a distinct accent that I (thought) I heard.
To goodtimes802 and missblackeyeliner:
Though I settled on it being Avril (before I found out that it was KellY) Shakira passed through my mind at the beginning of the song, which, as you said, sounds a LOT like "Don't Bother"; the themes of the two songs even match.
Great song, though. As a guy, however, I will have to remember not to screw over a girl so that this kind of song will never get written about me. |
