Daniel Johnston – The Story of an Artist Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song is so beautiful. i love the piano. seems pretty straightforward, telling the story of a simple artist who doesn't need all the accessories of the world, and is misundertstood because of it. "the sun don't shine in your t.v."..i love it. |
The Kinks – Phenomenal Cat Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Regina Spektor – Buildings Lyrics | 16 years ago |
correction- "But time is not given and time is not taken It just sifts through its sift But time is not given and time is not taken It just sifts through its sift Sifts through its sift Just sifts through its sift Oh, Oh ooooo Sifts through its sift Just sifts through its sift" should be: "But time is not given and time is not taken It just sits through itself But time is not given and time is not taken It just sits through itself Sits through itself Just sits through itself Oh, Oh ooooo Sits through itself Just sits through itself" etc. i think the song is about an alcoholic woman with a loving husband. she constantly asks her for time, and he tries to give it to her even though they both know that she has it inevitably. he reminds her that things change ("they build buildings so tall these days"; they used to be short) with time because they have no other choice. sweet but sad. |
Eiffel 65 – Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
combined with the video, this song is completely epic. i don't care how much it was played when it came out. i still love it. |
Flight of the Conchords – Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Regina Spektor – Pound of Flesh Lyrics | 16 years ago |
lexi may have a point; spektor is also jewish.. and then the whole reference to "love your enemies" can relate to that. |
The Band – King Harvest (Has Surely Come) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this song..it's so uplifting. meaning seems pretty obvious..unless there's some underlying metaphor i've completely passed by. i love the opening riff. |
Le Tigre – Friendship Station Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it's about someone stuck in a cubicle, the crazy monotony of it all.."i wanna be there/i wanna take you there" - daydreaming. |
Mathieu Chédid – Ma Mélodie Lyrics | 17 years ago |
anyone have a translation to english? beautiful song, i had a translation once and read something about "my melody flows like water" and i have to agree. lovely song to fall asleep to. |
Modest Mouse – A Manic Depressive Named Laughing Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I did some reasearch and it turns out "Isaac" means "he will laugh".. don't know if that's just coincidence but it always struck me. great song. |
Paul Simon – Take Me to the Mardi Gras Lyrics | 17 years ago |
hm actually i'm not too fond of this song. but sounds like he just wants to forget all his troubles and go party..anyone know if "tumba" means anything? |
Hedwig and the Angry Inch – Angry Inch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
sleater-kinney + fred schneider = |
The Kinks – Father Christmas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
such a shame they stuck it in that crappy movie last year..still an awesome song, nonetheless. |
Regina Spektor – Bartender Lyrics | 17 years ago |
love will be the death of me..unless alcohol kills me first! regina, you are amazing. |
The Band – The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I actually can't stand Baez's cover..nothing amounts to The Band's harmonizing & instrumentals. and the only problem with this song is that Robert E. Lee never did make it out to TN. |
The Beatles – Doctor Robert Lyrics | 17 years ago |
agreeing with bkat - i've always thought of this doctor robert as none other than bob dylan |
The Kinks – Death Of A Clown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i agree with lord guatama.."the old fortune teller lies dead on the floor//nobody needs fortunes told anymore" i say we bring back the circus! |
Death Cab for Cutie – Debate Exposes Doubt Lyrics | 17 years ago |
feels like the piano at the end is supposed to be the "drops that numb us"..makes me feel cold. |
The Band – Whispering Pines Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is a beautiful song. I sang it with my brother and his friend at my mom's birthday party and everyone loved it..definitely one of my favorite Band songs. |
Sigur Rós – Mistur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"mist" makes absolutely perfect sense. |
Sigur Rós – Olsen Olsen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the heavy and constant bass reminds me a little bit of the snow- calm and definite, and almost too comforting. and with the falsetto vocals, it's like flying over the mountains. then in comes the piano, a majestic eagle or hawk..i dunno, this song just does it for me. great to listen to while asleep. |
