I can relate a little too much with these lyrics sadly. To me, it's about how love can just take over all your feelings and how jealousy really comes in to play and can just take over your life. Even if it's in your head. Love is like a mental sickness, and this is a side effect. (Talking bollocks? I wish) Obviously, the 2 people this story is about are not (and probably never have been) an item " Coming out of my cage And I've been doin' just fine " He hasnt seen her for a while and he has been just fine, but then when he see's her again it's like starting back at square 1. Boy oh boy can I relate to this, haha. " It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss It was only a kiss " Something has happened with them in the past, and it meant so much to him but to her it meant "only a kiss" so he's trying to convince himself of this. " Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she's touching his chest now He takes off her dress now Let me go " Argh, god these lines are so good!!! Basically the imagination going wild, lol. Possible love interests of the girl are driving him crazy and even though it's all in his imagination, he can't help it. I love these lines... "And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head Let me go" Let me go, is a wonderful line. He doesnt want to feel like this at all (Who would? lol) But it's uncontrolable! Wondeful lyrics. Could anyone analyse "Turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis " for me, obviously, is all about jealously, but i want to know what people think each individual line means. I love Daniel Bedingfield, he speakt the truth, however harsh it may be. the lyrics to this are not nice and happy, but like he says... "And u will never learn till u get burned, Till your burned by the flame. " only then you will realise what he is singing about. amazing lyrics. not too keen on the song though, daniel still has the best voice in pop though. :) xxx |

Well, obviously the most striking line in this song is, "But you can't paint an elephant, quite as good as she" In my opinion, I believe this is the meaning behind it; He is talking about first someone that he is seeing now or a love interest, and that no matter how much he likes them etc, they will never be the person he is actually in love with (his ex(?)) so by that line, he is saying that they could be completely perfect BUT there is one tiny thing about them that makes it not work, because they are not his ex. and he uses the "you cant paint an elephant" to show, how minor but powerful this barrier is that is blocking his love for the new person hes saying "you cannot be this person, your just not good enough." well, thats my opinion anyway |
